How old is that card?

Sometime between 1948 and 1963 as it features "New York International Airport" and not Kennedy.

I saw this picture in an Atlas Obscura article on Christmas-map paraphernalia.

Keep warm, well-fed, take care of yourselves!

Have a happy crappy Christmas! It's the best time of the year.

I like how breezy was called Rockaway Point and amazing how there were only three town names at the time on the peninsula.

Dear Santa,

All I want for Christmas is for that insufferable, unfunny, self-righteous georgetheatheist guy to disappear.

Love,
Johnny

George the Athiest wishing all joyous Holy nights seems a bit incompatible and conflicted.

Perhaps George, you may be starting to be leaning towards the agnostic side?

This is a common trend as people start to age, they suddenly look towards religion, organized or otherwise.

Salvation and forgiveness may not be such a bad thing.

Happy Christmas to all...

"Froehliche Weinachten" ("Happy holy nights") is just a seasonal greeting acknowledging the Germanic roots of the Christmas holiday or, etymologically speaking, "holy" day.

"Salvation and forgiveness may not be such a bad thing."

To be "saved" from what? To be "forgiven" for what?

As you state, it is a "Holy" religious greeting as opposed to the our secularized "happy holidays".

Saved from our own stupidity, and realizing that no one is perfect and that we have our flaws looking for forgiveness from our creator or nature's God.

I am hopeful you enjoyed the Holy days you speak of!

It has been said, there are no atheists in foxholes... :-)

Nice map but Middle Village is again nowhere to be found.

To be "saved" from what?

From the lowlife politicians!

“God” as traditionally defined is a systematic contradiction of every valid metaphysical principle. The point is wider than just the Judeo-Christian concept of God. No argument will get you from this world to a supernatural world. No reason will lead you to a world contradicting this one. No method of inference will enable you to leap from existence to a “super-existence.” - Leonard Peikoff, The Philosophy of Objectivism

(sarc): Do you hold to the concept of Original Sin?
