From the Queens Chronicle:
Joined by City Council Transportation Committee Chairman Ydanis Rodriguez (D-Manhattan), eastern Queens lawmakers called on the MTA last Thursday to restore the Q75 line.
Before being discontinued in the agency’s 2010 budget cuts, the bus brought residents of public transit-barren Oakland Gardens to the F subway line on Hillside Avenue.
“We’re here today to call for the restoration of Q75 bus service from this very spot at 69th Avenue and 230th Street, which is long overdue,” Councilman Barry Grodenchik (D-Oakland Gardens) said. “In the midst of what we rightly call a transportation desert, this is really the worst part of the desert.”
But the agency told the Chronicle it has no plans on bringing back the line.
“Currently, the Q88 and Q17 bus routes cover the same operating area as the former Q75 bus route,” an agency spokeswoman said in an email. The bus, she added, had the fourth lowest ridership in the entire city.
The spokeswoman also said that people in Oakland Gardens who want a one-stop ride to Jamaica can just cross the pedestrian bridge over the Long Island Expressway and get on the Q30 bus adjacent to the intersection of Cloverdale Street and the westbound Horace Harding Expressway.

NO! Restore the Q74 bus line--from Queens College to KEw Gardens! The Q64 is a nightmare--we have many people, including many elderly, living off Main St in Kew-Forest Hills..and ALL those students commuting!!
People in dire need of local bus service should know that by the Rockaway ferry stop, and who knows if there are more at the other docks, there a city sanctioned shuttle buses for the convenience of the boat commuters to go to "destination spots" in unspecified areas in the town.
Yesterday, I saw three of them. 3. It had the ubiquitous NYC bubble logo on them. Something stinks to high hell about this, and the ferry is de Faustio's and the city's baby so funding for local bus service might be getting reappropriated for the poor feet of rich gourmad's, foodie hipshits and tourists little travels during the week than the need for elderly and working people to get around the borough.
I could be wrong about this and it might sound a little off topic, but no way was there any mention of sanctioned shuttle bus service from the boats. And get this, these shuttles have the Hornblower logo on them, the San Fran contractor de Faustio awarded with the waters of Jamaica Bay and the East River.
What bus?
Take the fucking bikes, we have plenty of bike lanes.
Here's what I also saw in Rockaway at midnight, a Q35 bus going to Woodside on 116th st. and it was empty except a group of 10 kids around 14-16 without adult supervision getting on it.
This is where the city is prioritizing bus service. For hangout and boozy destinations.
Oh, what fucking bikes are you talking about? There's no citibike and the majority of commuters are elderly. What a lunatic comment.
Re: what bus?
Hmm, that might have been sarcasm.
Since when is a profit needed to give services to the citizens of NYC ?
Do the Fire Dept, Sanitation Dept, Public Schools ect. make profits ?
Public transportation is a necessity and should be apparent to our elected public servants.
That's right they are our servants who get paid from our taxes but here in NYC they sit high on their horses and act like they are our leaders. The truth is they are selling us out every chance they get and when they get their hands caught in the cookie jar it's only a slap on the wrist !
Totally agree with the first commentator, we desperately need the Q74 back. I don't know much about the Q75, but if it's Oakland Garden's equivalent to the Q74, then getting rid of it was a slap in the face to their community.
The Mayor talks a big game about Vision Zero, but decisions like this make it obvious that the goal isn't to get people to drive less, but to force people to drive more and get more BS tickets.
Bring back the Q74. It is much much needed. Hope it will be restored in 2018.
