Building inspectors arrested for accepting bribes
From Eyewitness News:
Working in tandem with the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office the Department of Investigation recently uncovered three different construction schemes involving more than a dozen property managers, developers, and inspectors.
"There is an unquestionable, unbreakable link between construction integrity and safety," said DOI Commissioner Mark Peters.
According to indictments released Wednesday, two New York City buildings inspectors, 55-year-old Hiram Beza and 53-year-old Dean Mulzac, allegedly overlooked violations approving properties under construction in Brooklyn and Queens in exchange for cash and gifts. Beza also allegedly received a new kitchen and driveway for his write-offs.

So what else is new? I can recall 14+ building inspectors being arrested back on the early 1990s....9 out of Queens!
Random polygraph exams of ALL DOB employees would put an end to that!
THAT IS SOP IN THE HIGH SECURITY INDUSTRY.
Department of Bribery.
We need a new mayor and new councilmembers who will hold our public agencies accountable. Dump de Blasio, dump Crowley and dump Vallone, they are allowing such corruption and destroying our city.
Ah now I know why it takes 9 months to get an inspector.
And if found guilty will they lose their pensions?
Man-bun man is guilty if for no other reason than he has a man-bun.
We need a new mayor and new councilmembers who will hold our public agencies accountable
WE NEED NEW ELECTORATE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!
say it ain't so...
"Man-bun" happens to be law enforcement, and not one of the idiot inspectors. Perhaps you should have viewed the video before commenting!
Man bun won't like prison. Prison will like man bun!
Shit, now how the hell am I going to get anything done by the holidays.
Whenever the do these busts it takes months to simmer down
Make them wear body cams that can’t be turned off. The ire phone and e mails should be easily accessed by le.
The cops are over reacting because this has been going as far back as I can remember in the 1960's with my father always cursing about having to leave big "tips" and gifts for inspectors.
What the hell is a home owner or contractor to do, wait 6-12 months for an inspection?
Its cheaper to leave an envelope on the floor, its just the cost of getting things done.
These guys dont ask for a lot of money considering denial of a CO and having to wait for re-inspection (should some inspector fail you) can set you back 9 months rent !! Royally piss off an important $$$ client in some cases, make poor people homeless.
That just the way things are in New York, its always been that way !!
Its the city's on dam fault for not hiring more people to deal with the increasing backlog.
I'm so very shocked... shocked.
By the way, what do you want for Christmas?
His boss the mayor accepts bribes so what is the problem?
