And where will they build this?

From Curbed:

Development company Global Sports Ventures is making a play to woo Americans over to the traditional English game. They’re teaming up with the real estate firm JLL to build professional cricket stadiums in eight U.S. cities in the hopes of establishing the sport as a new professional league on par with the NFL or MLB. The stadium developments alone have an estimated cost of $2.4 billion.

The teams and cricket stadiums are likely to be located in California, Washington, DC., Georgia, Florida, Texas, Illinois, and New York or New Jersey—regions where cricket “already has an established following,” according to WXIA in Atlanta.

The league is set to launch in 2020—an ambitious timeline considering the build-out.

Hmmm, that looks like it would fit neatly into a corner of Flushing Meadow Park... or Kissena Park, or Cunningham Park...I'm guessing not Central Park. It's coming. Borough Parks are real estate to make money off of.

Not going to work, americans like High scores and clearly defined winners and losers, Cricket is boring and tedious and matches can last for D A Y' S and often do.

Cricket. What the hell is going on here? Has anyone of these assholes noticed that baseball is making a resurgence, especially locally with Aaron Judge and Clint Frazier, and even though they are having a bad year, the Mets pitching staff

Anyone here remember Jai-Lai? I recall that was going to be the next big thing back in the 70's. Even though I was a child I found it retarded.

It should be noted, again, that this plan is a red herring, another excuse to overdevelop more faux-luxury apartment buildings with a few crappy apts. set aside for affordability to get tax breaks.

I don't know where Curbed is getting their sources from, but I live in a heavily middle eastern and Indian populated area and cricket is barely played. Chalk another project designed for the transients and tourists and not the citizens.

They can build a stadium in new york just not in NYC. There's no space here anymore.

The first attempt in NYC will be in Queens-probably Flushing Meadows, home of multiple existing and proposed parkland grabs and compliant local pols.

Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
Don't think that the great fight is over.

Edison or Jersey City

Or better yet Hicksville.

Why not play cricket in an existing baseball stadium?

Build it in jersey but don't use NYC in the name to market it.

I do see people in Flushing Meadows Park and Kissena Park playing cricket.
