Monserrate to challenge Ferreras

From NY1:

In the public mind, the enduring image of Hiram Monserrate was him dragging his girlfriend through a vestibule in an episode that led to Monserrate taken away in handcuffs, charged with slashing his girlfriend with a broken glass.

"I have made my mistakes," Monserrate said in 2008.

That could be regarded as an understatement. Though ultimately convicted of a lesser misdemeanor charge, Monserrate later spent almost two years in federal prison after misusing public funds in his City Council days.

But Monserrate has never strayed far from politics.

"My mistakes are now in my past, several years ago. I have moved on," he said.

Indeed, on NY1's Road to City Hall Tuesday, he announced a run for City Council. He's staking his candidacy almost entirely on a single issue: the planned development of Willets Point, which he views as a giveaway.

"It's an atrocity for anyone to think that they can take 40 acres of parkland and hand it over for free to a developer to build and make more profits," Monserrate said.

Ah, hell... I do not like the lowlife, but if this is what it takes to get that corrupt toady Ferreras, who might be the next Council speaker, out the of picture, so be it!

Put simply; we don't need you. There is noting you bring to the government that a more honest and decent person can't.

Waste someone else' time and money.

Do you see how much of a gravy train a job in politics is? This POS is so desperate to get back in a job and get PAID!

That is what is wrong with politics in NYC. That is what is wrong with society.

Already convicted of misuse of funds and beating/assaulting his 'girlfriend' (and where is she now?) and can run again for office. It is a discredit to NYC that these rejects can run again. Add Spitzer and Weiner to that list.

And it just isn't NYC. Paging Mayor Barry.

They do have one thing in common. They are Democrats! The party without a conscience.

Can't we find a non-felon?

Was the federal conviction a felony? Isn't that a bar to holding public office? You can't even be a notary with a felony.

To last Anonymous: EXCELLENT ANALYSIS!

Now, yesterday, May 17th was my birthday, and I did not want anyone or anything upsetting my precious day of celebration. But, now it is May 18th, where my personal AND political battles resume:

But, Monserrate has never strayed far from politics.

❝My mistakes are now in my past, several years ago. I have moved on,❞ he said.

Hey, Hiram, take a hint and get a clue, already: Your mistakes may be in the past, according to you, and you may have moved on, but so has everyone else——and, we've all moved on WITHOUT you, and your corrupt, dishonest and filthy politics for which everyone else is still paying a price!

Further, it hardly absolves, much less expiates you to throw an equally depraved criminal sociopath like Ferreras into the mix, in order to oust her shabby-and-useless services (whatever they are, outside of the obvious lunch-and-a-manicure on the public dole)!

Karma will finally catch up with you AND feckless Ferreras, but we don't want, much less need a malingering loser like you lurking about another city, cradle-to-grave payroll job when you've already SO COMPLETELY betrayed all pretense of public trust, ethics, integrity, accountability and transparency——that you now DEVALUE all honesty itself——to pathological effect!

Find a dignified way to make a living, Hiram——because, THIS AIN'T IT——nor is running against another certified thief like Ferreras (whom HERSELF will soon be thankfully out on the street where she belongs with the rest of the stinking trash heaps!), your second meal ticket to political salvation!

It's SO OVER for you, dude——don't wait for the second brick to fall on your flat little head!

I'm amazed that the city has managed to find someone even worse than Ferras to run against her.

If he somehow manages to win, the radfem screeching will be deafening.

I hate when the dead don't have enough sense to stay in their graves. Must be that zombie apocalypse thing everyone is talking about.

That he has the balls to do this is surreal.
