Developer decides not to build huge project on restaurant row
From DNA Info:
The owner of a Forest Hills building housing several restaurants on the neighborhood's “Restaurant Row” has halted his controversial plan to replace it with a new 12-story mixed-use development, according to his lawyer.
The plan, which would have replaced the current 1-story complex at 107-18 70th Road that is home to several popular restaurants, including The Grill, Cabana and MoCA Asian Cafe, sparked numerous protests among locals and business owners including an online petition on Change.org started last year.
Adam Rothkrug, an attorney for the developer, confirmed on Friday through his secretary that “he is not proceeding with the application at the present time.”
Several restaurant owners said that they were recently told by the developer that he decided to halt the project because of the strong community opposition to the plan.

Ha. What developer or community board cares about community feelings? They'll be back with a bigger plan, just wait.
Finally a piece of good news regarding development! Forest Hills is becoming too saturated already.
Don't "Trust" developers and believe their good intentions they all suck and only do what benefits them.
If anyone really believes this guy theres this bridge....
Bullshit, false flag to keep the sheep (who will believe him) in line.
He's still gonna build a tall ugly box with as many units he can get away with.
Is Crowley or Vallone is somehow in this district or picture ?
If so these people better watch their ass and back because have no doubt stupidness, false promises and big $$ payola is involved !!
Alas, Forest Hills used to be pristine and uncluttered. Now, it looks like just another generic, New Jersey strip mall, as this once great hub of elegance and prestige now resembles a Third World village of foreign extraction and ZERO American assimilation, compliments of our mentally ill politicians (not public servants!), all of whom are afflicted with an incurable illness called 'NAKED GREED,' that only seems to worsen by the hour——and, the public be damned (again and STILL)!
The developer is Frank Bahar and he's currently busy building a huge 7 story building on the corner of queens blvd and 65th ave. It's where the old restaurant SATO was along with other stores.

Silly people of Forest Hills. The developer will be back. And with something even bigger, that will be approved. This is a common tactic where the developer lays low while the public gets distracted and then BAM!
Oh! I believe him...
Maybe they see the vast overbuilding in LIC, downtown brooklyn, and all over the city and realize we are past the peak of this cycle. How many people here remeber when the Windsor at 72nd ave was finished in 2007 but you hardly saw any lights on in side for the 3 years. Sagginng rents in the high end....no hope for people looking for something under $1500 but that luxury 2 bed that was $4500/mo will soon be $3500. And lower rents translate into lower sales prices.....can't wait for 30% off in LiC, downtown brooklyn, and Bushwick....
At the present time are the key words, people. He will develop, just not right now.
