If you want to avoid potholes, choppy roads and flat tires, you may want to steer clear of Kew Gardens, Queens.
The neighborhood’s streets are in the worst shape of all the roads in the five boroughs, according to a report the city Independent Budget Office released Tuesday.
The report tracked city Department of Transportation street-condition assessments from 2014 and 2015 across the city and found that only 28.2% of streets in Kew Gardens are listed in “good” condition.
The neighborhood had 66.4% of its roads listed in “fair” condition and 5.4% in “poor” condition.
It landed at the bottom — No. 188 — in the citywide rankings of neighborhoods.

Maybe it's because the majority of residents there are elderly and infirm and don't drive on Saturday that they can put off road repairs without notice.
I like to nominate Liberty Ave. in the dirty southeast. Right off the 2 year staircase renovation Lefferts Blvd stop has the most dilapidated roads that would make the Moon's landscape look a zambonied rink or a waxed beaver.
Really, I have been to Kew Gardens many times, Jamaica has far worse streets, just in the downtown section alone.

I think our streets in College Point can give Kew Gardens a run for their money on being the worst.
The entire length of Lefferts Blvd. is in horrific condition.
Which streets in kew gardens are they saying are bad. It would be good to see a map of these bad streets. Look at 311 service request map and select streets and sidewalks. Looks lite many other areas have more complaints for streets and sidewalks.
The roads are bad everywhere in NYC . Driving upstate makes my jalopy ride like a new car.

I have to agree. Hard to decide between College Point and Jamaica.

Spending $$ on Jamaica its a lost cause, its too far gone and would be like throwing cash down the toilet. The city should just place all the homeless there and parachute in some food & booze twice a week to keep them happy and contained.
Those cleanupjamaicaqueens people mean well but will never accomplish anything because its own people are the problem. Perhaps they should focus on cleaning up the people first. A 1/2 them slobs living 12 to an apartment tossing chicken bones & garbage in there own yards don't even belong in this country. Nothing is ever done because everybody is afraid of being labeled a racist for enforcing laws already on the books.
And right in the nabe of Queens borough hall!

I'm sure everyone knows this assessment is from 2 to 3 years ago, the real story is why they don't have a current interactive map of the amount of road dilapidation from last year.
I disagree.... Jamaica and college point is much worst. Especially when college point gets hit with a bad rain storm....then it's like Noah has to come down and build an ark again just to save all the people there.
