From NY1:
Fewer people are living in New York State, although it may not be that noticeable.
According to the latest census figures, New York saw its population drop by about 1,900 between July 2015 and July 2016.
While that's only a decrease of .01 percent, it's the first time the state's population has fallen since 2006.
More than 191,000 people in total left the state during the year ending on July 1.
That number was offset by the fact that New York led the country in foreign immigration and had more births than deaths.
New York has also lost nearly 850,000 people over the past six years, the most of any state.

Like rats from a sinking ship!
And being replaced with the ultimate parasites looking to suck on the Government teat...
This in contrast to the biggest tourist populace yet, 60 fucking million bodies.
If we stopped handing out welfare, it would go down more!
25 million were here doing business . The figure also includes people coming in from CT and NJ.
It's the liberal's nauseating endless call for diversity and inclusion and tolerance that has caused the long trend of White Flight from NY.
JQ llc
an almost nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to pay the rent & taxes
Yep...as Trump would say...The Mexicans are freezing up here.
Time to go home to sunny environs.
I believe that NYC population actually went up.
Just wait.....
2020 is a census year and Emperor Trump and his minions will be in charge.
You don't need a crystal ball to see that NY and CA are going to see a hit, between people moving out and no more counting illegals we are going to see a seismic shift in electoral politics.
Pack them in those hotels er shelters, NY can't loose any more reps in the House, we got a census coming up in 2020
To JQ: Yes, as you say, "60 f**king million bodies" (of grinding tourism), and all of them would slink away (faster than a priest running out from a dead hooker in bed), if they actually had to work and live here under one of the worst (and most oppressive) regimes for the rank and file that began with Emperor Bloomberg and his elitist policies of epic, humanitarian fail, for which every single NYC resident still continues to pay the price of Bloomberg's arrogance and tyranny——to present day effect——and, the public be damned!
i got up and left the city and state for greener, southern pastures. Anyone with a brain and work ethic should do the same. Sad to leave my home of my multi-generational family, but the way i see it, the city left me years ago.
> I believe that NYC population actually went up.
I did, the census is historically terrible at actually counting people, especially in cities.
> no more counting illegals
Undocumented immigrants are counted as illegals, and don't affect voting totals. And they're even more undercounted than ordinary citizens.

But that's the whole point: they contribute to both the tax base and business' bottom lines with little added to the city's operating costs. So long as it's not eating capital funds for its own sake, tourism is a good thing.
The devil is in the details. Is this popuLation loss due to declining birthrates, baby boomer deaths, retiree migration, illegal alien slowdowns, or something else, and in what combination?
Trump will clean up NYC.
Why?
Because Trump Tower is here.
Give the man a chance.
Everybody else has screwed up NYC with their over liberal agendas.
Make it a real world class city instead of a third world dumping ground.
Exactly right, Anonymous. Compared to 'OTHER' real world class cities, New York is an extreme embarrassment of crumbling infrastructure, exclusion, and overpriced tourism traps surrounded by filth and decay. I just returned from Moscow and Abu Dhabi and they both could wipe the floor with a croooked city like New York, whrere they treat their OWN residents like raw sewage, which should be the FIRST sign that Emerald Isle this ain't.
In fact, I am ashamed and embarrassed when people visit me here in New York, and they look at the subways and roadways in horror and disgust and ask me, 'How did city government let erosion and decay like this flourish without accountability? And, then I tell them who's been at the helm in City Hall for the past 15 years (an arrogant, lawless billionaire followed by a corrupt, Communist criminal/sociopath/psychopath), and then they instantly understand——and then they thank goodness that they don't live in such a corrupt sphere of chronic political corruptuion and lawlessness.

end the government benefits hand outs to illegal immigrants, end citizen ship for children of foreigners. hire American citizens first for civil service jobs. end the refugee resettlement industry. Give subsidized housing to American citizens and veterans not illegal immigrants- the fake refugees.
yes a Muslim database is a great idea until they release Americans held unlawfully.
These numbers are crooked. More people are living in NYC, they use about five different fake names to get extra welfare money.
We need more snowflake to go back to daddy and shovel manure
