From the Wall Street Journal:
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s administration has spent at least $5.4 million in taxpayer money on lawyers related to state and federal investigations into his fundraising activities, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Work continues into several of the investigations, and the fees to local law firms are likely to climb further, this person said. The current tally represents fees through early October, the person said.
Investigators are looking at whether Mr. de Blasio, a Democrat, exchanged government actions for donations, according to people familiar with the matter. Several of the mayor’s closest allies have received subpoenas as part of the investigation.
Neither the mayor nor his allies have been accused of wrongdoing, and Mr. de Blasio has said he and his staff have followed all laws.
Most of the legal fees were paid to Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, a white-collar law firm representing the mayor’s office and city officials involved in the investigations. The fees covered reviewing and producing documents for prosecutors and preparing city employees for interviews, this person said.

Trump will likely post Federal Attorneys that will prosecute with fervor the morass that is NYC and NY State.
Let the games begin.
Mayor Big Spender is quite the mooch with the morals of recidivist skell. This makes him the biggest welfare cheat of all time. Honest graft does not come cheap. Although everyone, including the park slope dope, has a right to an attorney of their choice or is appointed as such, these firms should have more sense to suck essential funding from the tax coffers and tax payers to defend this bag of dead dicks. But they wouldn't be the big firms they are if they weren't able to get the big money makers and players off.
Who does the mayor think he is? Al Capone?
And these idiots keep putting democrats into office. People act like the Democrats are so squeaky clean. But guess what? Both parties are just as equally corrupt!
I am not surprised. This progressive mayor must go in the next election. Just not say it but do it!
What has this guy done for my community? Put all these bike lanes in and creating traffic nightmares on Grand Ave and 69 Street.
His vision zero is not working.
Putting 100 men now in the hotel by Maurice Avenue is not a favorite of mine.
Forgot about us during the 2016 snowstorm.
Abusing tax payer money like crazy.
I really hope this Trump presidency begins ending the sanctuary city atomosphere and with job creations many of these homeless people can begin working and getting out of the shelter system.
This entitlement must be given to those who REALLY need it.....many of these asked bodied young people can work but have been on the welfare train since their grandmother was on it.
It is time to end this generation welfare thing.
We are a nation who works and works hard for what we want.
Let's continue this movement people. Another DeBlasio term is unacceptable!

My sentiments, exactly. The only way people will come together is if we had a more representative and honest government. The reason we are so divided and jilted and jaded is because all these elected officials are corrupt. They belong in jail. Imagine for one minute what it would be like if we had electeds, who actually listed to their constituents, who represented the interests of their constituents in City Hall and in the City Council ? Our electeds have become cucks to big money donors, to lobbyists, and to the County boss system. Preet did hurculean work to purge the system of corruption, but he didn't go far enough. If Trump replaces Preet, we will go back to looking to the Queens DA and do-nothing AG Schneiderman, again, who have let every conceivable form of corruption just happen on their watch. Lord, help us.....
The Feds will eventually catch up with big Bill.
Too much going on with him.
Giving this doofus a second term would be one of the greatest mistakes that a voter can make.
While we are at it, giving my local chitrool , Paul Vallone, another term would be fool hardy.
Dump Duh Bill....and dump Vallone-y baloney!
Can us taxpayers sue him to get our money back?
Suing costs more money than we might get back.
Most council members are lawyers and part of Duh Blaz's scheme.
And maybe in seven years we might win a lawsuit.
