The ridiculous numbers of hotels being used as homeless shelters and the total mishandling of the homeless situation by both the de Blasio administration and the providers that get paid millions to not provide services has now become a citywide concern. Check these articles out:

No, not dumping on a lot of neighborhoods - don't see many in areas that are gentrifying - but see a lot in places controlled by Joe Crowley.
This is just a bandaid to the problem at hand. He calls it "our fair share"..."city wide" problem.
Every single neighborhood that has a hotel, motel or Inn will be used as such. A dumping ground for this and then forgotten about.
Ruining the very neighborhoods they are in with overcrowding, quality of life issues, increasing crime and one's safety at hand.
Then you will see tourism in the outer boroughs decline because of this...who would want to be lied to that the Holiday Inn Express is not being used as a shelter when it is. The word will be out.
The small community with its charm will be ruined by the ones who do not better themselves and just want to bum around. The increase of neighborhood bums roaming from community to community as the others exit the shelter system for a much better way of life.
Someone in city hall must come up with a long term plan and quickly because once 2017 comes around more people will be on the homeless shuffle. How about going through the lists of able bodied men and woman who can work and give them jobs in keeping the city clean by shoveling the snow. You have the work force right there strong able bodied men who are young and can handle this.
And don't forget this one about the hotel turned shelter on Madison Avenue:

After all this watch asshole voters once AGAIN reward these assholes with re-election. God forbid Clinton makes the White House !! All this bullshit will increase TEN FOLD !!! El Salvador & Mexico are letting all the criminals out of the prisons and literally giving them bus fare to the border (they also refuse to take them back when they do crime & murder here)
This country is in DEEP DEEP SHIT with no point of recovery pending this election!!

NO, ONLY SAFE COMMUNITIES CONTROLLED BY THE MACHINE AND FILLED WITH SHEPPLE AND ARE NOT IN THE TARGET FOR DEVELOPMENT ARE GETTING THEM.
YOU SEE NO SHELTERS ON THE WEST SIDE – NONE ON HUNTERS POINT - FOR EXAMPLE.

THEY HAVE BEEN DOING THIS SINCE THE 1960S.

TOURISM IN THE OUTER BEES (HAHAHAH) IS BULL CRAP ANYWAY. JUST HOW MANY TOURISTS DO YOU SEE IN DIVERSITY PLAZA OR ROOSEVELT AVENUE?

WHO CARES ABOUT COMMUNITY CHARM WHEN THE PARTY’S GOALS IS TO ADVANCE THEMSELVES, GET JOBS FOR THE CONNECTED, GET CAPITAL FUNDS FOR PROJECTS FOR THE WELL CONNECTED, AND CAMPAIGN MONEY FROM DEVELOPERS FOR THE DIRT UNDER YOU AND YOUR FAMILY’S FEET.

NO ONE IN CITY HALL IS COMING UP WITH ANYTHING. GROW UP AND GET REAL.
YOUR COUNCILMAN AND BORO HALL – WHAT THE #%*@% ARE THEY DOING OUTSIDE OF GRABBING HEADLINES THAT THEY ARE “OUTRAGED” TO GIVE THE GULLIBLE AND LAZY A SENSE THAT SOMETHING IS HAPPENING.

SURE, TAKE A LIST OF NAMES AND DETERMINE THE ABLE BODIED FROM A PIECE OF PAPER - OR EVEN THEIR REAL NAMES.
The hotel that they are building in fresh meadows will turn into a homeless shelter too. Here is a solution to the problem....SEND ALL THE HOMELESS BACK TO THEIR OWN STATES OF ORIGIN OR OWN COUNTRIES OF ORIGIN!! That will solve our problem! Let their own home states and countries take care of them!!
How about buying up some of those new hi rise apartmenr in LIC and run the needy through there. Tons of apartments avaliable by gantry park.
Build the welfare state, and they will come, and come, and come...
West side of Manhattan has their shelters and give it time so will Hunters point. It will be coming to every community.
It is out the Island and even in South Hampton.
NY the right to shelter state and now to the city council the sanctuary one!
Voting these people out of office is what we must do!
NYS will change its sign from The Empire State to the Welfare State.
DHS can not be trusted under this current administration. The mayor has no long term plan for this. All he wants to do is use all the hotels in every borough to warehouse the homeless.
People are voicing their concerns and the opposition is growing. This is all falling on deaf ears and this administration will do whatever it wants to.
The definition of the right to shelter is:
This law compels the city to provide shelter to NEW YORKERS who are homeless by reason of physical, mental and social dysfunction.
When you have illegals and out of town people coming in why are these people especially the out of Towners not sent back home? The illegals should be sent back home. There are lots of people coming here legally why not do it legally?
How many homeless are really from NY state?
Like in Maspeth the DHS states 250 people gave Maspeth as their last address so when they rented out the rooms to 30 employed men how did DHS chose from the 250 these 30? Are they from Maspeth?
So do I trust the DHS? Absolutely NOT.
Do I see this getting worse? Absolutely since he has no long term plan.
Do you notice that so many are still homeless on the streets of New York? The homeless cottage industry is a sham, they are making millions of dollars for themselves and there are disabled, blind and elderly people out on the streets. The so called families are given preference over single people. So called because a young girl will have a baby. Yes, that's considered a family. She and the child or children get placed in the hotels, they are entitled to a private room and bathroom. Single people do not get this. The girl's baby daddy ( I know, it's stupid baby talk) or boyfriend or husband will move in. She doesn't declare his income whether it's earned or unearned income. But there he is and his friends, the security guards party with them so they let them in, no questions asked. They are black males with drug addiction and criminal records. Shadow tenants, also in NYCH and in any Section 8 or housing choice voucher. Everyone knows about this including the case workers at HRA and DHS who tell the woman how to defraud the system.
Its time for everyone not just activists to take to the streetds and cause gridlock in order to be heard loud and clear.
Sure when that woman defrauds the system the cycle continues with her children and friends. They feel they are entitled to it. Why work. Us hardworking people are paying for this.
Thought: maybe these people should pay their way even in a shelter. Use some of the government money and pay your way. A job would help to. There are some homeless that work.
> Its time for everyone not just activists to take to the streetds and cause gridlock in order to be heard loud and clear.
Why do you keep suggesting this? A quick look at the news shows that there's no better way to get people to hate a just cause then by needlessly destroying their commute.
Crappy, we need to overlay a map of homeless shelters with boroughs, city council districts, state assembly districts, state senate districts, and congressional districts.
Of particular interest to Queens is to also note, in the case of the congressional districts, where the congressperson lives.
I bet you would see is big difference accross the city - and Queens with far more than it share. Well, that is the thanks you get for acting like silly lap dogs around them. Makes sense.
Act like a dog - get treated like a dog.
