Abandoned Fresh Meadows property to be sold at auction

An abandoned Fresh Meadows home will finally go up on the auction block after laying untouched for more than 10 years, state Sen. Tony Avella (D-Bayside) announced in a statement last Friday.

“I am extremely happy to be able to tell the community today that as a result of the relentless efforts of my office and the incredible help of the public administrator this property is no longer going to haunt the community,” the senator said.

The house, located at 50-19 175 Place, will be auctioned by the Public Administrator on Dec. 7 starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Surrogates Court, located at 88-11 Sutphin Blvd., Courtroom 62.

Not many comments because this is not so great and people don't want to insult Avella who I personally think fucked up royally oiling the gears that should have been left alone. !!
With a public auction there is no way of tossing some hurdles at some Asian, Bukharin or agent acting on behalf of a builder with lots of cash to outbid everybody.

Guaranteed Result: Now we will have "change" The structure and every tree on the property will be plowed. Followed by 3+ years of mess, noise and an nasty big box eyesore with a shitload cars on the street forever. This because 20+ people will be living in it. Does Avella really believe the buyer will obey law & codes with ZERO enforcement under this sick mayor and president ?
This will be a disaster and also set a precedent to totally and lawlessly "blockbust" that street into McMansion built to the property line with no back yards, parking or front buffers or greenspace.

Some things are better left alone, now a big can of headache & worms has been opened. Nobody can sleep at night, they should have waited till crooked DeBlasio & Obama are out of office. No building codes will be enforced, this is WORSE !!!!

"Public Auction" Ehh ? May as well have dumped a big Trojan horse on the street.

I wonder how many "regular people" who would fix this up are being shut out faced with miles of red tape & special requirements and paperwork know how to even bid on this property.
This reserving the bidding to "special selected" equates to employing Wolves to manage a sheep pasture.

Those ticky tacky little boxes were built and sold to be expanded.
Post WWII and quickly built.
You cannot stop "progress" and modern wants or needs of today's homeowner.

I'm getting a little tired.
Everytime we see a ranch burger or cape cod matchbox house, we moan and groan about a Mc Mansion replacing it.
Ever play "Monopoly"?
Those little plastic houses you improve "Boardwalk and Marvin Gardens" with look just
Iike some of those tacky homes.
Not that I like huge structures replacing them, but c'mon.....grow up!
It isn't even architecture, just living quarters.
Save you fights for important things.
