Diblasio must go. He is ruining our neighborhoods DOB does nothing. They must be making so much money in bribes they don't need to do enforcement. Vote in Avella. He will get rid of all the bribes in the DOB and he will enforce laws.
"Anonymous said. There is zero enforcement of laws in NYC except for parking."
BUT not for illegal tractor trailer truck parking, auto body shops with junked or unlicensed cars on sidewalks/streets or commercial storage on residential property. For hard working tax payers whose money just ran out of the meter, well that gets the only attention. BAD GUYS forget about it.
I'm no fan of de Blasio, but let's be real, this problem of illegal conversions is not new. In my parents Brooklyn neighborhood in the 90s, city officials came to block association meetings and gave homeowners tips on how to convert their basements. Then you'd get elected officials acting shocked when everyone did the conversions and the area went to shit. This is NYC politics as usual. Until a politician loses his or her home because the neighbor did this b.s., nothing will change...oh wait, the pols rarely really live in the communities they represent...
I really wish they would crack down on this because in my area right now we've got people running a mattress storage facility out of their residential home, neighbors that took photos witnessing I'm picking up mattresses off the trash which means that we have box truck up the box truck littering up our streets and filthy mattresses tied on top of them. Bedbugs anyone? As far as the illegal conversion with in , all they do when they come to these people is post an LS4 and everybody knows after the second time they do it the DOB doesn't come back. What they need to do is after the second time instead of leaving and LS4, post a notice they have to come to the office to schedule an inspection otherwise the DOB is going to come back with the police and evict everyone pending that investigation.
We need to enforce immigration laws. If we deported more, we wouldn't have this problem. 60 percent of immigrants in this city are illegal, I can almost guarantee you that one!
Our block Association is currently working with the Department of Buildings to trying get something done about the mattresses. This problem with the mattresses has been going on for a few years and there are at least a dozen box trucks involved. It's out of hand how people can be doing something so blatantly and no one does anything about it . Here's hoping the block Association will come through

Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap
