Jamaica transportation hub getting an upgrade
From the Daily News:
A major transit hub in Jamaica, Queens, is getting nearly $8 million in state money for upgrades that’ll make it easier to catch a ride, State Sen. James Sanders will announce Tuesday.
The money for the Jamaica Transportation Center Station Plaza — one of the city’s busiest transit stations where commuters can catch a Long Island Rail Road, the E, J and Z trains and a host of bus routes — is intended to give more space to pedestrians at the bustling transit and retail center, said Sanders, who got money for the station improvements as part of a transportation funding plan hashed out with his fellow state lawmakers.

Another "upgrade" in Jamaica? Stop wasting our money! It's not working nor will it ever until Jamaica is cleaned of corrupt politicians and so-called economic development officials.
I can just imagine the back room deals that were made for this.
Bringing home the bacon just before the election, imagine that.
When in reality we are wasting EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS for what will turn out to be a wider sidewalk...
What Jamaica needs most is a compelling reason for folks to stay past 5 o'clock.
Again?
Again and again and again!
Jamaica is a money pit shit hole.
You can spend millions and millions of dollars, ad infinitum, and it will remain such until it's shabby residents get some manners and attend to keeping the streets clean and safe!
Don't like my plain speech? FU! It happens to be the truth and there is no hiding it!
Hot summer nights are particularly scary and reason enough to stay inside, lock the door, and stay low.
Yeah, right! Like the two homeless shelter hotels they're building just up the street?

This was the running theme of my former blog "Clean Up Jamaica Queens" sub titled TRUTH & REALITY with FACTS thrown in. The folks just don't get the concept that a box of shit wrapped in expensive wrapping paper with a pretty bow is still A BOX OF SHIT.
It's how the Dens get the black vote.
All of Queens is an ill-designed mess with the relatives and friends of the machine getting millions to redo poorly done projects, while the non-connected get starved of pennies.
bastards from KATZ TO KROWLEY
> more space to pedestrians
How about more space for the drivers who actually pay taxes in this city...

DeBlasio and his Transportation Alternative buddies think drivers are the scum of the city and need to learn how to ride bikes.
Upgrades ?
They just finished it and its a lousy, sloppy ugly job (shaking my head)
Concrete used on the tram overpasses is cracking and changing color, mold, weeds, garbage.. Just old nasty with no maintenance. Some of these new 400+ seat jets come in at once and you suddenly find you car completely surrounded in 3rd world country chaos.
I now park by one of the trams and tell whoever I'm picking up to take 2nd tram stop outside the terminal.
Is that go awful ugly bus dept where the Q44 starts from in Jamaica still there ? is this part of it?? real estate people have been pushing jamaica for years as the next "it" neighborhood.
IT CAN WORK IF IT'S DONE RIGHT BUT FIRST GET RID OF THE VAGRANTS, ADD MORE LIGHTING AND CLEAN UP THE STREETS OF ILLEGAL STREET VENDORS!!
Wider sidewalks for more advertainment promotional "pop-up" farces. They have been doing this for the past 5 years in various parts of manhattan, especially the recent destruction and reconstruction of Astor Place. The REBNY overlords are going to turn Jamaica into a vibrant (for them at least) and over-valued market rate area no matter if crime remains the same there or worsens. This is not at all about improving service or safety for commuters at all. Same with the all of a sudden recent big government money investment in Far Rock.
These people have clearly lost their fucking minds.
Talk to Floyd Flake if you do not like conditions in Jamaica.
Maybe then he can talk to his people about sanitary behavior.
He runs "Allentown"!
Jamaice will NEVER be cleaned up.
It was settled by minorities as their ghetto in the mid 1950s.
Aside from Jamaica Estates, proper, the rest is destined to remain a bung hole!
Learn to live with it , or move. The filth will outlive your life span!
Cleaning up Jamaica is beating a dead horse.
Buy yourself a new Buick instead.
Tat old gray mare ain't what she used to be.
Kudos to Joe Moretti....
but you're fighting an uphill battle with the sun in your eyes against all odds with a dull sword.
It is what it is and will remain so. Jamaica (south) is here to stay and drags down the rest of the town.
You gotta know when to hold and know when to fold.
But where will the illegal immigrant Africans go to sell their made in Chinese prison labor camps products? Where will the Caribbeans who run the vans go?
