Contractor uses forklift to move car
From the NY Post:
Here’s the shocking moment a construction crew hoisted a Williamsburg family’s SUV off the street to make room for work on a luxury building site.
Contractors for Two Trees Management used a forklift to uproot the 2004 Infiniti while working on the $2 billion redevelopment of the former Domino Sugar Refinery.
The family, which has lived one block east of the historic Domino site for more than 30 years, found the SUV deposited on the curb Friday afternoon.
Henry’s father, Thomas Nahrwold, 61, had legally parked it in front of 27 South Third Street that morning.
A local auto repairman estimated it would cost at least $2,600 to fix the damages, which included a disfigured bumper, smashed undercarriage and impaired steering alignment.
The family learned who was responsible only because a neighbor recorded the act on a cellphone.

The car was standing in the way of economic progress, holding up NYC's only remaining industry: luxury condo's.
Just kidding.
Even if the car was parked illegally, which it wasn't, the workers had no right to move the car like that. The workers should be fired.
All the contractor said was that he was going to pay for the damages on the car. These contractors really get away easily don't they?
Imperial Hubris. Predator developer style.
No doubt now that the contractors they hire must reflect the sociopath and territorial tendencies of the management.
It also a reflection of the passive aggressive anarchy going on in city hall.
No problem. Like the rest of us, it was in their THEIR way.
revoke the GC's licence.

Exactly !!
A heavy lift crane to move air conditioning, elevator equipment erect freight scaffolding can cost $15,000 $20,000 a day, plus the hassle of paying and trusting the right people for permits then add more $$ for your operator's and lift crews. $2,600 is just a "nuisance tax" to things done so the F- with the car! If you care about your car don't park in front a construction sight.
Better yet if your anti progress buy a house with a garage on Long Island or someplace else. Like the mayor said no real need to have a car for private personal use in Manhattan, Brooklyn or Queens.
Allowable by zoning. Most of Queens housing is small and expandable to what the FAR allows.
Can you believe the nerve of these people, parking their car in front of the future site of a post-modern hipster work camp? What are they, Republicans?
"Better yet if your anti progress buy a house with a garage on Long Island "... The car was parked legally and overcrowding a neighborhood is hardly'progress'. People should not have to move so greedy politicians can line their pockets with developers payoffs.
The owner of the cars should sue the shit out of the contractors. The contractors that build these pieces of crap in our neighborhoods do not give two shits about the community.
the workers should be ARRESTED. Vandalizing somebody else's property is a crime. How is this different then when vandals break windows on cars or steal the car's tires. The owner of the car should press a criminal complaint. That will put the construction worker's on notice that they shouldn't mess with the property of those on the block.
Go and fight the mafia. That's what construction crews are...or answer to the Dons.
Can I borrow that for guys who park in my driveway?

Then learn your lesson and stop rewarding these shit politicians with electing and re-electing. When you re-elect all the same democrat shit they form tight one part "buddy systems" When the system is out of balance (like NYC) your guaranteed to have corruption which leads the way for payola, fast track corrupt changes engineered to happen so fast, sneaky and behind close door the little people cant keep a line on it and in turn have no say.
Its like a hamper with dirty sox & underwear, all the clothes eventually stink & fester together if you don't separate and wash them all.

Yes, this. File a police report, the video as evidence.
How else would you move it?
Tow trucks are expensive and not readily available, the skid-steer with forks is available.
I have done this several times,
One time we moved a car way down the street, in the other direction. Shortly thereafter a fellow stumbled out of the bar, thought nothing of the location and drove off. our project stayed under budget and on schedule!
However, you need some well placed carpet remnants and lay 2x4 wood boards on top of the forks.
The carpeting and wood, if placed correctly, eliminates damage to the vehicle and its undercarriage...
