Subway service sucks even more than before

From NY1:

Grab a seat, check your phone, get comfortable - the wait for a train could be long.

"They've been having a lot of track, signal problems and stuff like that. So I find that the timing is off," said one subway rider.

So does a new audit from state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli. It says riders are enduring longer waits for trains on three quarters of the MTA's 21 major lines.

"Service has deteriorated. I don't think it's any big surprise to most of the riders waiting on the platform for a train that hasn't arrived yet," said Matt Sweeney, a spokesperson for the state comptroller's office.

The audit examined wait times, the MTA's targets for the number of minutes between trains.

The comptroller says in the first half of 2015, the MTA met those targets systemwide 78.4 percent of the time, a falloff from the previous year.

But DiNapoli says the MTA's measurement may make subway performance appear better than it is because the agency tallies each line’s average performance, treating puny shuttle service the same as longer lines like the A train.

"When they average in shuttles with something as major as the Lexington Avenue line, it raises the performance of the Lexington Avenue line," Sweeney said.

In all, 16 major lines saw an increase in wait times last year. Just five lines saw an improvement.

I am sure the train Hillary Clinton was on at Yankee Stadium was on time.

They fixed problems with some things but not with the others. That's nyc for you!

Now you know why the MTA is wasting money on WiFi and countdown clocks. Just something to keep you occupied while you wait for your train. SUCKERS!!!!

We need more ridership on the Flushing 7 line!!! Let's create more housing in Flushing and elsewhere along the line.

Ok, here's the thing.

I find that this situation, even though nobody has died yet and areas have not been destroyed, should be considered a state of emergency and should get federal funding because this is not amusing anymore. Everyday gets progressively worse with the delays, and now with the repeated stabbings, most of them by or in transit, Mario's teflon son better stop stalling with the funds, he's the one that controls the MTA. And of course those dopes at Tammany Hall II (The Fraud Reawakens) Is some of those billions they're holding that were promised to improve commuting being reserved for that unusable and developer welfare light rail?

One thing is sure: the MTA Board members travel by limo, and not my mass transit.

I hate to say this, get rid of the MTA union. They do nothing for the riders.

Is anyone surprised by these stats? We all know a major cause of the delays are simply too many people trying to ride the subways, way more than it can handle and it will only get worse--never better. A simple thing like moving into the center of the car and not blocking the door so people can exit/enter faster is beyond the ability of these rude bastards who ride the train. But hey, build taller! There's always room for more.

and I rely on 6 of those 16 delayed lines (456 NQR);

and having a 24-hr transit system without having a 24-hr call center is absurd;

and even tho my employer accepts the MTA "delay verification" form, it still docks my pay (have to use leave)

The MTA is a government run operation.

The only thing you can count on is a regular fare hike.

E/F from Jamaica to Roosevelt Avenue Monday mornings is at least 1hr.
So these fuckers can talk all they want about saving planet Earth, get people out of their cars they are full of shit.
On the weekends is even worse. No way to get around with the so called Fastrack program in effect.
So the next time you hear environment this and that just remember money is FIRST.
Fare hikes, tolls, toll hikes, makes no difference as long as the money keeps rolling in.
Fucking liars.

Maybe if they would stop spending money on useless "Engineering Studies" and public community info sessions with lots of food and media express bus lanes and all the DOT/MTA, Air Tran connections, and billions on countdown clocks, new RF phone swipe systems (Pay apple etc for running the service) wi-fi service. and spend the money on actual maintenance, and boring new tunnels in areas, and fixing/buying new simple subway cars maybe it would work.

In the beginning they charged a nickel, used a reusable tokens (that didn't fail) had reliable clerks at the stations to take care of the station and turnstiles, moved lots of people and still made a profit (albeit with some govt help).

Work for the MTA (or any govt job-Politicians #1 offender) get into management make millions and don't do a thing but study ways to fix the system.

Typical Govt operation!!!!!!!

I can't even speak on this anymore.

I was 35 minutes late for work today. Got on F train and 179 Str. station, the train was hardly moving. At Union T-pike ran across the platform to transfer to E hoping it would bring me to midtown quicker. No way!!! It was worse than F train.

The city is old and rotten. The subway system is old and rotten. The city will never be fixed. There will never be money to replace the subways. Its band-aids and deferred maintenance from here on out.

Abandon the city. Get out while you can. It will only get worse from here. There are no solutions.

Supposedly there are regular track and signal inspections, but if you've ever took the 7 line you know it is a bunch of bull. Signal malfunctions everyday, usually, at the same stops.
