College Point rectory rented out as hotel
This Craigslist ad was sent to me by an anonymous tipster.
This appears to be the rectory for St. Fidelis Church in College Point. It is also for sale, according to this ad:
So who now owns it and is renting it out illegally as dorms/hotel rooms "great for large groups" with a minimum of a 1-month stay?

Why don't you ask your councilman to pull themselves away from who is going to be on the $20 bill and (1) find out what is going on and (2) suggest legislation to stop this.

A community center or non-for-profit for seniors is a much better use for this property!!
The same organization's (GIF) sign is also in front of Mary's Nativity former convent on Parsons Blvd in Flushing. Rumor has it that they've been renting rooms to Korean students for the last year or so.
If they're renting by the month it's a dorm, not a hotel, right?
As I understand it, a hotel can rent for less than a month, others can't. But all are answerable to pay the hotel tax unless over 6 months.
St Marys Convent is run by the same group with rooms listed on air bnb and craigslist.
This is NOT & never was the Rectory for St Fidelis, many years ago it was sold by the Diocese of Brooklyn & became Mother and child home, apparently they sold it to the Global Leadership Group, who is running the dormitory style housing,the Church hasn't owned it in years.
The Rectory has been & still is on the South West corner of 14 ave & 123 st.
I saw the Saint Mary's ad right after the St. Fidelis ad.
The bottom line is that the Brooklyn Dioceses should be made aware of what is happening. The way things go in Queens there is really no telling what will eventually become of these properties or what use they will made to serve.

It has the classification of a rectory in DOB & DOF systems.
When it was first built, it was a convent for the nuns who taught at St.Fidelis School.
Nice property, can spin off 12 condo apartments at 500k a piece , nice flipping potential!

You mean the Limelight? It was a great club it's time, it's a legend now slowly fading into history. Shame they turned it into yet another batch of high-end chain shops for yuppies and hipsters.
Yes, Anon. I was talking about the Limelight. I liked the club but always felt a little weird that it was a converted church. Peter Gatien had used the church/club for drug distribution. I didn't lose sleep when the place was shut down. I saw mostly rock sows there.
I live on 162nd street in Flushing, arguably the epicenter of prostitution, human trafficking, gambling halls, predatory towing and god knows what else. My concern is that the former rectories will become havens for this too, like every other residence in the area.
