An optimist would look at this house as being half full; a pessimist would look at this as being half empty.
It will still get built. Just wait and see.
Remember it's just a slight "alteration" to the building. In my area they left one wall of a garage and built a huge house around it. the permit was for an alteration to the building.

Dam shame. Im the good old day if you showed your house to "garbage" or did shit like this to F-ck up the neighborhood or "blockbust" some very large Italian men with thick necks and chewed up ears would show up and have a talk with you.
No work crew would even do the work for you without a donation and "nod" from the local minder. (and you better not show ugly plans)
