Shelters are styes

From the Daily News:

City homeless shelters had a whopping 21,401 open code violations at the end of 2015, according to a new scorecard issued by Mayor de Blasio's office Monday.

The Shelter Repair Scorecard documents conditions at each of the hundreds of shelters around the city — showing buildings plagued by problems like vermin, leaks, and peeling paint.

Most of the open code violations — 14,418, or 70% of the total — were found at 265 cluster shelters, where homeless people are housed in apartment building units rented out by the city.

Another 6,984 violations were found at non-cluster shelters.

It's amazing how these ingrates being housed with taxpayer money have no regard or consideration for the apartments that they live in. Heck, my family has lived in our owned house for 40 years without one major leak, no broken walls, no broken windows, no ripped out electrical plugs, no broke pipes, etc. The taxpayers are giving you a place to live. RESPECT IT!

Very true. That's why the homeless fear them.
Or in the exact, brutal words of a ranting homeless man at Times Square....
"Suck my Dick. Close the shelters"!
Such poetry.

When thousands of people compare these places to a prison you have to step back wake up and realize that it is true. If you clean htem up and make them secure you wont have so many homeless in the streets.

Yeah but if the 'non profits' that get the multi-million dollar no bid contracts for running these places have to do repairs it will cut into their profits.

Ironically, and mendaciously, These styes basically are billing the city at and above the market rate for the tony and affordable luxury market rate of 3000 a unit for each family.

These non-profits are run by sicker people than the mentally ill and destitute that need and wind up refusing to use them. In a way they are trying to discourage all those from living in the city and the boroughs, which is warped because this is suppose to be a sanctuary city. They feign concern and empathy but these dwellings are clearly designed to turn people away or to strip any dignity or worth to those desperate to stay.

This is a scandal beyond belief. But it's ok because light rail is coming back at a cost of 3 billion dollars, guess where...
