Jamaica Estates squatters are finally out
From WPIX:
Ex-NYPD cop Winston Bailey and his family finally got the boot from the Jamaica Estates home where they’d been living for more than two years without paying rent.
...On Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 16, the clock finally struck midnight. Time ran out for the Baileys. A city marshal and five NYPD cops showed up to get them out. They were evicted.
Byrne is grateful, but .. there’s always a “but” with these people.
The Baileys went back to court the next day. And according to Byrne, civil court Judge Louis Vilella gave them one hour a day for a week to get the rest of their belongings out of Byrne's house.
Judge Vilella will consult with the judge handling the federal bankruptcy action to make sure he’s not missing anything. And then he’s due to issue a ruling on Feb. 29, presumably a final ruling.

It is so hard to believe in this day and age that this could happen. Bankrupt court stops all. Renting to a retired NYC cop owner thought rent was a sure thing. How can people go thru life always trying to beat the system. Hope inside of house does not have too much damage.
Good riddance to bad trash!
I am sure they will find another unsuspecting landlord to scam.
So we will be told that the tenants need MORE PROTECTIONS...
Wanna bet the Bailey's will be back in court claiming that some of their stuff was missing and the judges will allow them to file a huge law suit against Byrne?
A very frustrating case finally comes to an end (somewhat). The disgraced cop and his family still have the right to return for one hour a day and slowly remove all their stuff from the premises. SMH!! Despite that GREAT JOB HOWARD THOMPSON !! I wish there were 1,000 of you because the city and the legal system in this city is clearly ineffective and unfair in cases like this.
So long, farewell
Auf Wiedersehen, goodnight
I hate to go and leave this pretty sight....
'The disgraced cop'????
He and his wife are a disgrace. Was it ever clear what he did for the police department? Just another pair of loafers gaming the system.
Good riddance to bad rubbish!
Move to Arizona if your kid has asthma!
Good Job Howard!!!!!
Mrs. Byrne needs to get a company to dump everything from the house into a dumpster and send it to the dump.
No back rent? So the old lady loses, another black on white crime perpetrated by the court system, this guy must have been one piece of corrupt shit on the job also.
Here is some more info on the Baileys: http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/asthmatic-girl-family-hits-school-lawsuit-racial-bias-article-1.289333
There are always two sides to every story.
Absentee landlord- there's a problem right there. no managing agent. Am sure there were serious problems with the house.
I don't have the address, but if I did could look up the violations.
I hope that they find a good place to live.
"I may be brave. But I'm not stupid. That man is missing most of his teeth" LLLLLMMmmAo
Problems with the house? The address is 85-07 Chevy Chase Street. One complaint was lodged about a boiler not working. The mopes inside didn't let the inspector in and the case was closed.
The Baileys had the opportunity to explain their side to the judge, but the judge kicked them out. It's amazing how many people want to blame the landlord just for owning property in NYC.
Real low life Queens Crap !
The couple is a real disgrace to the NYPD !
