The Department of Buildings has recently placed a stop work order on the construction site. A DOB spokesperson says inspectors found the construction work was contrary to the approved plans.

NO FUCKING SHIT. If these asshole crooked DOB inspectors actually got off their ass and worked for a living, they would find thousands on thousands of these.
OK so what can we do to stop the McMansions... to bring attention to this frightful situation that is not only ruining the esthetics of a neighborhood, but blocking the sunlight and destroying nature? This is an honest question. Can we start petitioning? All of this anger (and I feel it, too) should be redirected into action.
Queens Crap, if you can get the ball rolling with a petition or something to show Queens residents that we've had enough, maybe something good will come.

Here is what should happen. The architect that files a NB or Major Alteration job should be held responsible to visit and monitor the project for purposes of making sure that it is being built according to plans.
ALSO, the architect should be held responsible to see that the ZD1 Diagram is posted (as required) on the construction fence and that the viewing cutout is appropriately positioned on the construction fence.
PERMITS: SOME OF THEM HAVE EXPIRED AND THAT SHOULD BE CHECKED BY INTERESTED PARTIES. IF CONSTRUCTION FENCE IS STILL UP that permit has expired. Plumbing permit also should be checked to see if it has expired.
If it is not, then the architect is responsible to notify the DOB.
PROFESSIONALS AND DOB EMPLOYEES (all relevant parties) need to be held accountable. That is not happening as it should.
If the architect does not monitor the project to see that it is being built according to plans -- then he loses his license.
Like the Hydra...cut off its head and it quickly grows another. The systematic corruption of DOB and REBY owned politicians requires 24/7/365 scrutiny. Otherwise, this will happen over and over again. Strong civic associations and careful research before you vote are your only effective weapons against losing your nabe to overdevelopment.
I have to say this looks absolutely ridiculous! How do knock down 1/2 a house and build a mcmansion on the other side? This should never be approved! People stop on the street and just shake their heads.

But I've learned from QC that people will keep working on the construction even when there is a stop work order. What does the DOB do then?
Now it will sit there for 6 years and further crappify, as it moves through the courts, right?
But we all know that it will eventually be built anyway.
As said above.. This will be built anyway .. and the useless (and/or corrupt) DOB will shrug their shoulders and do nothing about it..

The owner will hire an architect or lawyer with connection with BSA, and will request a variance which will be approved. Nothing new.
