They closed down Barnes & Noble and the chinese / mexican food joint on Austin Street. This neighborhood was the shit back in the day. Now it's lost it's spark.
The Chinese have colonized Forest Hills now, too. Never thought I'd see the day when this area would be as loud and trashy as the rest of Queens, but now it is. It's turned into another endlessly shouting Chinatown outpost, with formerly decent residential buildings now full of screaming Chinese immigrants shoving 10 people in 1-BR apartments and running illegal businesses there, and landlords not caring as long as the rent is paid. When almost every face you see on the street and the subway is Chinese, it's time to move.

It's about affordability and amenities. This neighborhood used to have a small town feel but now it's lost.
