Bay Terrace may see more development

The talk around Bay Terrace has been centered on concerns that developers are planning to expand Bell Apartments by putting up new buildings for 187 condominium units.

Cord Meyer Development, which owns the Bay Terrace Shopping Center, said it could not confirm plans to develop the vacant green space across from Bay Terrace Elementary School on 23rd Avenue and 212th Street because they have not been finalized.

But the developers and the architect for the project presented the plans to leaders of the Bay Terrace Community Alliance last month, according to Warren Schreiber, the civic president.

Schreiber said Cord Meyer wants to build the new condominiums on the same block as the five-building co-op Bell Apartments. The original plans for the co-op complex called for seven buildings back in 1961.

The developers want to build shorter buildings to accommodate the 187 proposed units, Schreiber said. He also said the plans call for 187 parking spaces in an underground structure.

Now that soft boiled wimp, Schreiber, is getting up his ass what he allows CB7 to do to downtown Flushing.
That's some juicy underutilized land sitting there waiting to be built upon...and it will! Welcome to the Flushingization of Bayside. As if you thought you were immune from overdevelopment. Think again you nay-siders!

Yep....Warren has been sitting on his little fence, playing a god at CB7....thinking he's as slick as snot on a doorknob.
Sellout other areas to ambitious politicians to protect beautiful Bayside. Now it is Bayside's turn for some tsouris.
If you think that you can play politics with snakes to protect your little world, you will wind up bitten in the end. As long as there is land to develop, it will be developed.

Yet more green space is lost to overdevelopment in Queens. Why doesn't Cord Meyer build a community park for a change?

The former Bayside Jewish Center is next to be developed? They didn't want a school!

I love how some derelicts claim that just because there is space they assume it's unused and it's going to waste so they can justify their selfish intentions.

This logic was used this summer in Rockaway by some surfers demanding to open up the waters by averne for them to play in.

I'm sure there are various glaring examples that is leading to the further ruination of the boroughs to fulfill the demands of transients and tourists.

Yes, lets just ruin a once beautiful neighborhood, by accommodating those who shouldn't be in AMERICA in the first place.
We are overcrowded. Just look at Flushing and the disgusting filth in the streets. Note who is living there. I rest my case.

I hope community stands up for once united against overdeveloping of this property and Jewish Center on 32 Avenue.
