Connecting the congestion pricing dots

From Queens Buzz:

NYC Councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer and 14 Democratic Progressives recently embraced the Move NY Congestion Traffic Price Plan, which among other things, calls for $8 tolls [or $5.54 with the use of an EZ Pass] on all East River Bridges, including Queensboro, Brooklyn, Manhattan & Williamsburg Bridges.

NYS Senator Jose Peralta of Jackson Heights / Corona has been an early advocate of the Move NY Congestion Traffic Price Plan.

Most of the rest of the Queens government officials do not support the plan. And hence we decided to take a closer look into the plan, to better understand what the issues are.

And we were more than a little bit surprised at what we found.

How Do The Plan Assumptions Stack With Known Realities?

In this report we’re going to describe the Move NY repackaged Congestion Traffic Price Plan. Specifically we will explore the assumptions upon which the plan is based, and then go behind the curtain to explore some of the relationships between the different groups pushing the plan, in order to better understand the economics of the politics.

Oooh. I sense some tweeding coming!

Of course they did (Embrace the plan) It gives them more of our money to waste by throwing it at problems they themselves caused...

How to get a pol's attention said...

Who'll give me a hundred dollars?
One hundred dollar bid, now two,
now two, will ya give me two?

Two hundred dollar bid, now three,
now three hundred, will ya give me three?

Two hundred, two and a half, two-fifty,
How about two-fifty? fifty? fifty? fifty? I got it!

How about two sixty? sixty? sixty?
I've got two sixty, now seventy?
how about seventy? two-seventy?

I don't see how this helps traffic in outer boros. If anything it means more commuters driving to areas close to manhattan, trying to park (good luck) and then trying to get on a train into manhattan (again, good luck).

WTF makes Manhattan so special that it gets to put an economic wall around itself and create a clusterfuck for outer boros?

And FUCK bremer. That guy is a complete asshole who doesn't represent the opinions of those in his district.

Why do these politicians keep pushing "congestion pricing" instead of a commuter tax?

Why do they want to screw their own constituents, who can barely afford to live here to begin with?

Let the commuters pay their fair share. We already pay too much.

All they want to do is lower the carbon footprint to open the door to more development. - they know they can do anything they want to you with no repercussions.

That's because you get the unsuspecting public coming and going.
Pile them in/up, 30000/sqm, then start charging for congestion.
The corrupt commies were little clowns compared to what we have here.

How much more do we need to shell out to live in this city? Does anyone truly believe that the other tolls will be permanently lowered? For how long? The MTA is an inefficient behemoth and we are doomed to support it? Why? When are the politicians care for what the working New Yorkers can pay and cannot? Does it matter?

They making the city completely unaffordable to live in, taxes, housing, bills, etc.
Politicos are always complaining of shortfalls, over budget, crying for more money.
I have never ever seen the accounting, only the cry for more money.
Speaks for itself.

Go after the Queens capital budget.

Van Bramer had is own dog run - 3 1/4 million spent building 3 dog runs in western Queens going after the hipster vote.

That's because he thinks and cares more of the dogs than his constituents.

Nothing wrong with dog runs, bocce courts, but please address the more urgent issues first instead of lining some dude's pockets with taxpayer cash.

Come on you are not that clueless. Dogs?

A pol only cares about votes and money. The process of governing is merely an annoying front. Its dog owners here, and honest graft there.

Comment like that from Queens merely reinforces outsiders' opinions of the boro.
