From the Daily News:
A Long Island Rail Road train sideswiped another train in Queens, Friday, causing massive delays that left thousands of rush hour straphangers stranded, officials said.
Investigators are trying to determine if one of the trains slightly derailed before scraping against the train just outside the Jamaica station at 6:30 p.m.
No injuries were reported, according to an LIRR spokesman.

Looks like the big train on the right was off his tracks.
6:30 on a Friday in July in Jamaica. What a mess!
May have slightly derailed ?
Shit its over 4 feet off the track and almost on the adjacent track rail, the Daily News is such a bunch of idiots
Is a slight derailment different than a derailment?
There could be a switch there.
I think it very unlikely there was a failure in the interlocking.
"Derailment" in the eyes of a NYDN reporter is the scattering of cars across a mile. (How much longer are we going to have the Daily News around? Enjoy it while you can.)
It's hard to believe that the derailment didn't immediately trigger instructions not to allow trains to approach from either adjacent track.
Everything seems to happen in or around Jamaica when it comes to LIRR problems.
A lot of people are working for the MTA that shouldn't be, its appears they have Caribbean country buddy system and work ethics going on. Educated local people are being treated like crap and forced out early.
