Walking down the street whistling on a wonderful warm day. And what to my wondering eyes should appear? A rodent bait sign on the door. But there's no construction fence... Well, this obviously requires closer attention.
Ah, not just a rodent bait sign, but a stop work order is posted dated from this past January. Let's look into this.
So they apparently tried to hand demolish this brick building in January and after being busted, applied for permits in March. They got stopped before they could finish, but they left several open windows and holes in the place during the high snow season. Lord only knows what the inside looks like now.
The eventual plan is to replace this fine old structure with a "community facility" and 6 apartments.

This was also combined with a lot behind it which means it now fronts 2 major streets, allowing an increase in the size of the building. 2 floors of ambulatory diagnostic facility? How can they be sure that's what will move in? This community facility clause has to go.
Welcome to NYC. DOB permits optional.
Pretty unbelievable that they would tear down a brick building to build some shit.
A Polish contractor bought a two family house on my block in Maspeth last year and gutted the whole house and dug out a bigger basement. They used four large dumpsters over the course of a few months and they never had any permits displayed.
I didn't want to be the one to report them because they know I'm the only one on the block that gives a shit.
If they dug out the basement whats going to stop the foundation from imploding into the excavation ? The whole building can come down down with people in it.
You should have took photos and reported the bastards. Scared ? Exercise your 2nd amendment right if needed.
Rat poison??
This was allowed at a location across from St. Stan's grammar school???
Only in Maspeth.
