That building was deemed a "transient hotel" by the DOB in 2006, they were given violations for not enough sprinklers, windows, etc.
So now they have satisfied all the violations and will end up with 14 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms and guess what the DOB has to say? it is a single family home and they will not do anything about it.
Not a wonder 50 inspectors from the DOB are in jail. It is criminal that the DOB is trying to pass this off as a single family home in an area that is full of single family homes. These people know what a single family home is. Bus loads with luggage every week does not qualify as single family homes.
Forget the shady developers it's the DOB that's ruining our neighborhoods.

Question 1: Who is the owner of the property. Question 2: Did the owner(s) make any campaign contributions to a certain City Councilmember? Question 3: Does the owner have ties to REBNY, which supported the campaign of a certain City Councilmember?

That whole block is an eyesore. First a hundred year old weeping beech tree was cut down next to I Hop.. The rest of the block appears to be a church owned property. Then there is the actual church building at 35av.
Senator Avella is having a protest rally in front of this building on Thursday April 30 at 1pm.
Come and stand with your neighbors, we need to send a message to the DOB that this has to stop.

You can ask the local Council Member to get you the blueprints, I had a problem house in my neighborhood and I did ask and I did receive the blueprints showing every floor in the house.

Senator Avella should call for a DOI investigation of the DOB at that demonstration.
The answer to anything seeems to be a press conference.
They seem to do more good for the politician than the residents. Maybe this will be an attention getter, but it can't end with just speeches. Further concrete action must be taken after the event is over.

Maybe Yang is a front for the church down the block and will flip ownership to them after the religious hotel or dorm is built. You never know.
Maybe, legally, there is nothing that DOB can do if somebody is building according to spe c and wants 14 bedrooms for his large single family home. I heard of one home in Malba that has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. It is a single family home .

There are houses right around the corner that have six and seven bathrooms. They are indeed single family homes. This is NOT a single family he as evidenced by years of people being dropped off with luggage at all times of day and night. Seen with my own eyes.
