A look inside a the Woodhaven Volunteer Ambulance Corps building
"Take a look inside the Woodhaven-Richmond Hill Volunteer Ambulance Corp, at 78-15 Jamaica Avenue, nearly two years after the collapse of the building next door (which had many open violations at the time of collapse).
The conditions of 78-19 have caused damage to the Ambulance Corp every day since it collapsed on Friday, April 12th 2013. The city finally acted after the community rallied and said they were going to tear down the rest of the collapsed building - but the building's owner George Kochabe and lawyer Elio Forcina too the city to court and struck gold when they were assigned Justice Diccia Pineda-Kirwan, who has granted the owner extension after extension.
Most people don't realize the ongoing catastrophic damage that is being done to the Corp's building - maybe this video will open some eyes and help some people realize that after 2 years, the owner of the collapsed building deserves no more extensions or breaks.
The Volunteer Ambulance Corps, a mainstay in our community for 50 years, lost their only sources of income due to this collapse - yet they are still forced to pay insurance for a building in shambles, and pay taxes to a city that failed completely to protect them.
Many thanks for all that you do,
Ed Wendell

Level the entire structures and build from scratch. This cannot be repaired as is.
Willful negligence enabled by a corrupt judge.
This is being done by people who think the elderly and those in need of emergency services who can't afford the FDNY EMT ambulances as expendable.
These individuals should be cuffed and indicted.

Isn't that the guy from the Whitestone area that some people are always pleading with to run for City Council? A friend of developers?
Curious as to what sources of income the Ambulance Corps lost because of building collapse?
What is your councilman doing?
And the other electeds?
Borough president?

The building was the site of the Woodhaven-Richmond Hill Senior Center (operated by Catholic Charities). The hall was also rented out for parties and meetings.
How very SAD... I was a member when the Corp. got their first new ambulance.. a '69 Cadillac... and the Ambulance Corp was in a store front across the street...
Very Sad for the people in need of help

This is so sad. This corp. has served the community for many years. My dad, Larry LaMarche was an ambulance corp. volunteer in Woodhaven for several years and would be heartbroken to know this, if he were still with us. The landlord should be locked up. I'm sure he's getting some kind of tax write-off from this.
I am sad?
I am sure blah blah blah..
Yuz all know nothin.' Life happens. But you pay taxes to make sure it doesn't.
Go after tha people tha ain't doin' nothn' insta of just whining n ringing hands.
No one cares if that is all ya do.
So sad. I remember being a member of the Youth Corps and then getting all my AFA,CPR and EMT training there. I remember Bertha Hess, Edna Shire, Pat and Louise Strauss,Tom Meehan, Fred and pat Marine, John and Pat Beidinger,Andy Combs, Paul Turano, Warren Hults and many more... I remember those days well everyday. Did over 500 calls. I had painted the Stars of Life on the garage doors originally too!

Where are our Elected Official's? The Repair of this building is crucial to this Community!
Anonymous said; It's sad to see an organization such as this having to cease operations because a selfish and unconcerned landlord of his bldg next door fails to cooperate with authorities and fix it! Every day that goes by without his repairing his bldg, that's just puts one more resident at risk of needing EMS assistance from the corps and having to possibly wait for an outside agency to respond. If the patient should suffer severely or worse because of this, then in my books it's murder!, and instead of giving more and more extensions to this Landlord (Hardly even deserves to be called that), he should be locked up and throw away the key! I saw the video clip of the inside of the corps. It's just sad really sad.
