DOT has up to 50 crews out in any 24-hour period, and according to DOT officials, they not only repairs locations reported to them but also other potholes encountered in between.
Last night (9PM) from the BQE to Northern Boulevard on the GCP 1 hour bumper-to-bumper as 4 lanes eastward traffic merged into 1 lane as the pothole repairs proceded. Nothing to do about it. Grin and bear it.

DOT gets all excited reporting the hundreds of thousands of potholes they repair in a year. However no one sees the bigger issue. There shouldn't be that many potholes. Our roads should be resurfaced much more frequently.
When I drive upstate the roads are smooth and pothole free (and the lane markings are not worn out) because they are resurfaced on a regular basis, and they have harsher winters than we do.
The city needs to commit more money to resurfacing the streets but that does not seem like a priority. Housing the country's homeless population, constructing bike lanes, and giving aid to illegals seems to be more important.
NYC is a rocky place with pitchy terrain that is heavily trafficked and heavily scraped, salted, and permeated in winter. The constant resurfacing is a constant scam. In LIC for example, roads resurfaced in the last two or three years have already been bared in places to the original cobbles. I find it very ironic that the original cobbles seem to hold better (probably a century old by now) than the resurfacing material. Then again, you can't pay bribes to local street bosses on a street that needs little maintenance.
There are bigger holes in the heads of Queens' voters for putting up with the bad choices they've made. Instead of squash seeds...if they had some brains instead....we would not have zucchinis running things for us.

I wish the pot hole repair crew would hit the Grand Central Pkwy next...

Ever watch these crews work? They are using rakes and shovels. They do a HALF-ASSED JOB! The next day, the pothole is back again.
NYC potholes and the ensuing shoddy repair work
it's been waiting for you

How can you repair potholes when there is an 8 inch snowfall on the ground ? This is what I observed last week on 53 Ave in Maspeth !!!
