Every Article, EVERY one, in the Courier is advertising driven. Say farewell to the best local newspaper in Queens. The Times-Newsweekly did their job better than anyone. Schneps will make a go of it, but the paper we once knew is on borrowed time... She's (Schneps) is a short, fat dumb whore. With no journalistic integrity at all, let alone experience in the field.

The Times-Newsweekly is the ONLY community paper that charged money to buy . . 50cents. I would have gladly paid $1.00 for it. Great UNIQUE coverage to borough events. I loved the murder and mayhem on the front page. Reminded me of the pre-supermarket National Enquirer ("I cut out her heart and stomped on it!") A real fun read. And now, what? Courier-style interminable coverage of nail and beauty parlor openings and self-serving "award" dinners at the Terrace-on-the-Park?

The Times Ledger charged for the local weekly as well. The Queens Ledger does, too.

BTW, the best news coverage is found in the Chronicle. Peppy writing and creative design. Nussbaum's post-Shenkler anemic Tribune with its johnny-come-lately lame "awards" dinners is an advertising wannabee of the Courier.
And Barsamian's Gazette is a local pol ass-kissing graphic disaster.

I don't often agree with George, however in this case he's 100% correct. Only most of the locals are political ass kissers.

Why do we need so many local newspapers? They all cover the same stories and by the time they publish, it's stale news anyway. Most people get their news online today. Save our forests and start shutting down these paper dinosaurs.

It's time to get rid of those eyesore newspaper boxes that are cluttering up our sidewalks!

People still read newspaper ?
Does anybody know what you must go threw to legally get rid of 50 or 100 pounds of that newspaper granny reads?
The salvage yards and recyclers treat paper like the plague and now wont even take it for free. Paper is no a lose lose commodity that is now far to toxic and expensive to recycle in the United States.
To add like TV and radio all these newspaper company's owners and editors in charge are ex 60s & 70s hippie liberals who will never dare go against fellow liberal politicians. Its a secret code of ethics among today's journalists and editors.

Because they're not newspapers. They're glorified penny savers driven by selling ads. What local community paper ever had an exclusive news story? They all get their leads from the Post & News and from politicians' press releases. Dig the front page exclusive series on Manhattan stealth condo purchases in the Times. You'll never see that in the Queens weeklies.

PS You don't have to pay for the schizo Queens-Brooklyn Times/Ledger, it's a freebie at senior/community centers.

PPS Trees don't need saving. The lumber and paper mill industries are not wanting for lack of trees.

PPPS I read newsprint all the time. A nice more-soothing-to-the-eyes reflected light break from having to squint at the transmitted light coming through the computer. PLus you don't get the same ads, if any, on line. Sometimes, I like reading the ads.

DNAinfo is giving all the Queens newspapers a run for their money. Professional quality reporting and on-the-spot when an event happens.

RU kidding...the Courier the best? That' s the wedding and event rag. Vickie is up Shulman's ass. Shulman and her Democratic hack likes are what destroyed Queens.
