LIC’s residents also enjoy a very efficient transportation system. The Long Island Railroad into Penn Station stops at Hunters Point Ave.

You can't get there from here...
It was brought to my attention that "Resident Magazine" has a feature in their November 2014 edition about LIC, calling it the next Williamsburg. How original! Anyway, the funniest line of the piece is this:

WTF? Transportation stinks here. This might as we'll be the Dakota territories. I can be in Manhattan in 23 minutes from my east Flushing RR station. It takes at least that long to walk to the Vernon Jackson #7 station in icy snowy weather.
The funny part is that these stupid magazines are little more than 20-somethings sitting behind a computer somewhere writing crap that they know nothing about, that they likely pull down off of google streets. They obviously have never been to LIC or they would see the LIRR does not (indeed cannot) go into Penn from there.

Quoted! Also, most of them probably never lived in NYC until they graduated college.
It's easy to sell any hipster a pig in a poke.
For people less familiar with the area: the nearest Queens LIRR station with access to Penn Station is Woodside (11 minutes)
For the same amount of time, the Number 7 can reach Queensboro Plaza from Woodside.
For people in Vernon-Jackson, at rush hours, people can wait an indefinite amount of time for the #7 as the trains are too crowded to board to enter Manhattan.
I have an idea - let's build another 10 buildings with 250 apartments each in the area. Transportation, schools, sewers, electric grids, who cares?
They've clearly never tried to take any of the LIC transportation. Crowded everywhere. Good luck getting on a train, but YES, let's keep moving thousands of people into the area, it'll be GREAT.
