Doctors handing out food coupons at Elmhurst Hospital

From the Daily News:

Visits to the farmer’s market could soon replace trips to the pharmacy for some patients.

Elmhurst Hospital is the latest city hospital to adopt the Wholesome Wave Fruit and Vegetable Prescription program targeted to overweight or obese children.

Doctors write fruit and vegetable “prescriptions” for their young patients. The writeups are then turned into so-called Health Bucks at certain greenmarkets.

Health and Hospitals Corporation officials said the average prescription translates into $14 of food for a family of four.

What!? Why is valuable medical staff's time wasted with this? Why can't the markets just give them the coupons?

Because the fat fucks wont waddle over to the vegetable market without some kind of incentive.

Get the kids off the high carb things they eat and they will lose the weight.

I was in Burger King in Ridgewood Saturday and was SHOCKED at what these immigrant moms were feeding there kids. These kids were ALL short and extremely overweight and eating MOUNTAINS of nuggets, frys, onion rings, ice cream and large soda cups.
Every table had the same thing going on.
These people don't understand what they are doing and can not control themselves. They are clearly addicted and these fast food corporations (based in the mid-west)know it.
I'm beginning to think Bloomberg was correct in forcibly culling carbs. HOW is NYC going to afford and deal with tsunami of young diabetics if this don't stop ?

This reminds me of the The Twilight Zone episode, To Serve Man, when aliens abduct earthlings and then fatten them up before eating them. Could it be??
