Roaches crawling all over Ozone Park block

From NBC:

Folks in Queens are dealing with a problem that would likely make your skin crawl. They say roaches, a lot of them, are taking up residence in their homes, and they know exactly where they're coming from. Brynn Ginras reports from Ozone Park.

What a disgusting story!

Roach spray - hello cancer! Hope they don't have pets.

I think plain old non-toxic baking soda does the trick.

Not baking soda, Anonymous #1, you're probably thinking of boric acid.

Mix a little granulated sugar with boric acid crystals and sweep it into the baseboard cracks. Boric acid is a roach stomach poison, but it also gets wedged between the plates of a roach's exoskeleton, causing it to dry out and die. When used properly, boric acid is a much safer indoor alternative to poison sprays. However, it's useless in areas exposed to rain or constant high humidity.

I'd bet that the house causing the infestation has water leaks - and probably mold too. The owner should check the water and heating pipes and remove any wet wallboard/flooring. Roaches can live for weeks without food, but only a day or two without moisture. They won't breed unless there's a reliable water source nearby. Sometimes simply fixing drips and eliminating condensation is enough to make them move elsewhere. - Andrew

This house needs to be bombed professionally...possibly 2 or even 3 times. And as above mentioned all leaks have to be abated!

What's the address on the house? I refuse to watch this video. ::shudders::

More examples of slumlords who do not properly take care of their properties and don't care who they rent to as long as they make a buck.
