No GOPer running in SD11 Senate race

From the Times Ledger:

September’s Democratic primary between state Sen. Tony Avella (D-Bayside) and former city Comptroller John Liu will be for all the marbles since there will be no Republican contender on the ballot.

For the first time in more than four decades, Queens Republicans have failed to amass enough petition signatures to get a candidate on the ballot in District 11, according to the city Board of Elections.

The GOP collected a mere 788 signatures for its candidate, Elio Forcina, far short of the 1,000 required to get on the ballot.

“It’s a huge disappointment to see the Queens Republican organization is just so incompetent that we can’t even get a candidate in a district in which Republicans can win,” said John Watch, the former president of the North East Queens Republican Club, who still serves on the group’s board. “It’s a joke.”

Of the signatures gathered in the district, only 545 were valid, the BOE said.

BAHAHAHA. Elio is a joke himself. And isn't he part of the same club as Mr. Watch? How come he didn't help collect? Wait let me guess he wasn't hired as a "consultant" wink wink nudge nudge. What a pathetic batch of losers indeed.
Again
Bahahahahahahahha

Are we sure that there are 1,000 voters still registered as Republican in that district?

I tell ya, Ragusa left the Queens Republican party in great shape.

What hubris on the part of Watch with a comment like that. He is still a board member yet he seems to absolve himself of any culpability! For shame!

Once again NY's undemocratic (and probably unconstitutional) election 'laws' do what they are designed to do: keep the public from fully participating in the election process, keeping the party hacks in power, and making elections as meaningless as possible.

Who will pin the bell on the cat and legally challenge this? Come on NY, you fancy yourself the center of the world. So why are we still living in the Dark Ages?

You would think that with so few registered Republicans in SD11 College Point, Whitestone, Bayside, Little Neck, GOP or Forcina volunteers could individually contact every last one of them to obtain a signature.

No one rang my bell in North Flushing.
Not once did I see anyone collecting signatures.

Lots of articles about Queens Republicans lately, Crappy.

The County organization collected signatures for Tim Furey. Tim declined and Forcina was substituted on the last day. WEIRD actions by the queens GOP. Why did Fury decline? why was Forcina substituted? and why did they not get the signatures.

Keep electing the same Democratic political hacks/union stooges and soon the entire city will be one huge homeless shelter.

Somethings smells sneaky & dirty Whitestone & Little Neck alone should have had enough votes.
Who and how did they go about collecting these signatures?

Who cares?

Remember when McLaughlin screwed up and there was an open assembly seat in the district?

The republicans chose to run Morshed Alam a DEMOCRAT against Rory Lancman.

Republicans in Queens are mentally challenged.
