An elevator at a Queens subway station that opened to much fanfare on Friday broke Saturday after only one day in use.
As NY1 reported, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority heralded its newly ADA-compliant Forest Hills-71st Avenue subway stop with some pomp and circumstance, but now, the elevator that takes riders from the street to the station is out of service.
One Twitter user captured a photo that they say shows fire officials rescuing someone who got stuck when it stopped working.

The elevator will suffer the same fate as the Lexington Av escalators that have been continuously out of service for decades. And let's see how the new elevator fares when inundated with rain, snow, and ice. Thanks MTA.

The concentration of urine mixed with the rain (because the roof is non-functional and never repaired) is blamed for the constant breakdowns of the elevator at 61st Street/Woodside.

The filthy taxi drivers at the taxi stand there will think nothing of urinating along the side of this new elevator. We should start noticing the stench of urine soon.
