From the NY Post:
An elderly Citi Bike rider who flipped over and landed on his head after he hit a concrete barrier is suing NYC Bike Share and DOT for $15 million — saying the accident left him unable to taste or smell.
Ronald Corwin, 74, of Connecticut, was not wearing a helmet in the October crash. Lawyer Guy Smiley said the gray barrier blended in with the street on East 56th and Madison, and the city has since painted it orange.

those stumps weren't there when those shitibike stations went up,then they suddenly appeared.they are not visible at night, one time I almost crashed into it.
judging by that paint color,it does not look fluorescent enough.
Does that about negate all of the money the program has made?
This is exactly how the bike program in Montreal went bankrupt. It took just 4 lawsuits...
That anyone would think that it's safe to ride a bike in NYC is totally insane! Especially and older person from Connecticut!!!! Couldn't he just have gone for a walk?
The city should not pay a nickel for anyone that falls, nor anyone that gets run down - that should be built into the plan.
The Bike Share Program in NYC will not be allowed to fail. Bike Advocates will do anything to ensure it's success. This will never see a court or a jury.
FYI- The city is exempt from any lawsuits regarding the bike program. The company that runs the bike share program is fully liable as stated in the contract with the city.
Yes, liable for the bikes. Not for placing shit in the roadway for people to trip over.
This bike program is there for the gullible kids clueless that bike riding was a fad from 100 years ago that died for some very good reasons - like this example.
Its dangerous (to the public as well as the rider) and not very efficient in getting around or doing errands.
How many hipster bike riders have you seen in the past few months this winter? How many use it during downpours?
There is some reason that countries with widespread bike riding a few decades ago ditched them for alternative means of transportation.
This is simply an exercise to reduce the city's carbon footprint that is negated when you invite another 1,000,000 people into the city.
I hope that everyone that gets injured by knuckle headed policy sues the ass off everyone responsible.
And for you bike nuts out there, shut up and buy some food at one of those dirty water taco trucks.
Just make bikers buy liability insurance. Motorists have to carry it too. Problem solved. Oh and by the way, bikes are here to stay. Get used to it.
But he wasn't wearing a helmet...Gotta love our litigious society. Everyone wants a piece of the pie.
WhiteBike will never go away. Its a program that panders directly to the elite leftwingers who have a lot of power over local politics, since they drive real estate growth.

Really? A puppet from Sesame Street is an attorney?
He had to come all the way to New York to bust his head?
