From PIX11:
A freakish city snow plow accident Thursday night sent a terrifying avalanche of ice and debris into a Queens restaurant, shattering windows and sending patrons scrambling for their lives, injuring several people.
“It kind of sounded like a bomb went off. It was the loudest noise I ever heard in my life and I was typing in an order,” said employee Blane Boyd, who saw glass flying across the restaurant, Exo Cafe, on Austin Street in Forest Hills.
The Department of Sanitation told PIX11 News it has conducted an investigation of the accident, which happened shortly before 11 p.m., and is seeking disciplinary action against the operators of the equipment.
Police said the truck hit a garbage can full of ice, which was propelled into the restaurant’s vestibule. The plow operator left the scene of the accident, but was immediately located, police said.

Another law suit for nyc?
Wow. I knew we had a major garbage problem in Jamaica, but this one takes the proverbial cake.

I heard that there was a barrel of salt in the street an the plow just lifted it an it flew. Don't know why the barrel was there and not on the sidewalk???
if there were film trailers and cables all over the sidewalk there,I'd guess they were shooting a chase scene for blue bloods, brooklyn 99 or person of interest(the stooges of crap shows based in NY)
that street is one of the most dangerous streets for walking, parking and driving.what's even dumber is that its a 2 way street when its designed for one direction, who makes these decisions for the roads?
@J Do you mean you think it is too narrow? Did it used to be one way there? Which way should it go? It is dangerous though. Drivers there are a mess. Routinely have to jump out of the way when cars cut in front of me in the crosswalk.
anon 3-the road should go one way east, since it runs parallel with queens blvd and it intersects with yellowstone ave.
I have a bad feeling that it might turn out to be a pedestrian road soon because of the sudden foodie bullshit culture thats going on there right now.
