LaGuardia Airport set for overhaul
From WPIX:
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the state is taking control of an ambitious $3.6 billion construction project at LaGuardia that calls for an entirely new Central Terminal Building.
It will feature retail shops, restaurants and other amenities, along with new parking garages and other support facilities.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey technically runs the airports and has given its blessing for the state to oversee the project.
Four companies have been asked to submit proposals by April 15. Construction is expected to begin by the end of the year.

Great - just adds to capacity which means it adds to noise and pollution while mostly benefitting Manhattan.
I'm sure Andy will do a bang up job with this, and Andy's buddies in the construction biz will as well, including a piece back to Andy.
Its about time for this. Getting off the plane and entering the LaGuardia terminal, you feel like you've landed in Nicaragua.
In the footprint available there is not enough space to make genuine improvements.
A new building is needed because all the security related remodeling since 1970 has made security lineups and navigating the gates a third-world experience.
