Ray Kelly taking security detail with him

From DNA Info:

The bill taxpayers will have to pay to protect Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly when he leaves office next month just got bigger.

The NYPD's Intelligence Division — with Kelly’s input — is recommending that Kelly take with him a 10-officer complement of taxpayer-funded bodyguards, up from the six-officer detail the commissioner had wanted last month.

The detail will now include a lieutenant, three sergeants and six detectives to chauffeur and protect Kelly and his family around-the-clock in the Big Apple and even out of town after he ends his 12-year run atop Police Headquarters — at an estimated cost of more than $1.5 million a year, sources estimate.

In six months, the NYPD will reassess Kelly’s security needs, the sources say.

R. Kelly has(like with the way he deployed 80% of the nypd last night at the tree lighting)an inflated sense of his need for protection from "terrorists"aka blacks young and old and browns middle eastern, indian and spanish.

what an abominable s#!t he is.there are plenty of security firms he can hire like blackwater and various other agencies that profited from the infinite war on terror.

Deblasio better nip this in the bud(and move those cops away from the fox news(noise) building too),any cop who takes this gig has as much contempt for the taxpaying public as r. kelly does.

Are you just figuring out that NYC cops have contempt for the people that pay their salaries?

All you have to do is spend 5 minutes with one. That's assuming they can speak English.

What does this story have to do with rank and file cops? Besides, I never cared if a cop liked me any more than I ever cared if the train conductor, booth clerks, cabbies, bus drivers, deli counter workers, laundry guy, car mechanic, plumber, local politician, UPS guy etc liked me.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard!!!

Shame on us taxpayers for allowing this to happen.
