Just when you thought they couldn't stoop any lower...

Jobs for NY is now using dead children to scare families into voting for Paul Vallone.

Jobs? New York? Won't find them here.

There's no shame at all in NYC politics these days.

Why does Paul Vallone always have a smiling face at the most inappropriate times?

How can anyone be smiling when discussing terrible things, like the Newtown massacre or the Armenian genocide??

Very disturbing.

Anonymous said...

That's "Vallone".

Spelled "G-A-B-O-N-E"

Anonymous said...

Can't anyone out there read??? That's the stupidest flyer I've ever seen. SHAME SHAME SHAME for pulling out those innocent dead children from Newtown to promote your city council campaign. You're not going for POTUS asshole! Stop the madness NO to Valloney Balloney. We have a great community here in District 19 don't let it go down the toilet with Vallone.

Anonymous said...

"Fight to reduce Violence" isn't that an oxymoron? That is the yellowest statement I've ever heard. It basically says "ok I will leave guns out in the street just make sure no bad guys use them" What a buffoon!! Now we shall see if the voters are buffoons as well.......

"Paul Vallone has pledged to restore budget cuts to our police precincts"

If you're restoring something, it means you're bringing it back. So Paul Vallone will bring more cuts?

Parkside obviously failed to run this through a grammar check.

Anonymous said...

Paul Vallone has pledged to restore budget cuts --- ROFL HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Stinky is the lowest of the low.

Anonymous said...

It's an audacious flyer designed to scare voters into voting Vallone. Reminds me of the old Goldwater commercial from long ago. The little girl and the flower petals. Goldwater lost. The fence in the flyer was very well done, like the building trade unions are involved. Did they overreach or just throw off the other candidates on a change of strategy and gain an edge. Union style audacity!

Anonymous said...

Prediction: Paul Vallone will go down as the guy who used the Newtown children to promote himself. Please don't vote for stinky.

Anonymous said...

I would bet that most of the members of the various police-related unions that have endorsed Stinky live either on Long Island or in Westchester, and thus can't even vote.

Anonymous said...

are you suggesting that we don't vote for Vallone?

georgetheatheist said...

It's a very visually confusing flyer.

The first thing I think of when I see the fence photo is that Vallone gunned down the kids.

Anonymous said...

I called the Vallone campaign office to ask why he did not disavow these attack ads and I was transferred to...Chuck Apelian.

Vallone, Apelian, Jobs For New York, Developers, etc. A sleazy incestuous bunch.

Anonymous said...

19CCD is NRA country. He just lost election

Anonymous said...

Disgraceful and classless piece especially with a photo of Paul Vallone smiling on the back. Everyone should be outraged.

Anonymous said...

Typical Parkside special

Anonymous said...

What a fucking scumbag.

Anonymous said...

It's true, a lot of 19th ccd is 2nd amendment country and does not mesh with his desire for more citizen control by police. He needs to get out of Astoria if he plans represent n.e. queens.

Anonymous said...

Just when you thought they couldn't stoop any lower...

We're at the eleventh hour, and I would expect that the most vicious ads will arrive on Monday, since that leaves the opponent(s) little if any time to respond, except on social media. Let's hope that Shafran and Graziano have something planned to hit Zippy with on Monday, since I would bet that "Jobs for New York" will sink even lower.

Anonymous said...

Stinky has stooped to an all time low using those kids. Everyone should call his office and ask him why he needs to use the Newtown shootings to promote himself? (718) 428-PAUL

georgetheatheist said...

If those other candidates don't have a press conference on this obscenity, they need their heads examined.

Anonymous said...

I called vallone's office about this flyer and got a staffer saying "im sorry" followed by a loud click and a dead line.

Anonymous said...

This really has gone far enough. Is there any legal recourse for this? Even if there's not, this is just plain disgusting given that tragedy. And he's using this for his benefit? The other candidates really have to step up here and disavow this once again. There's no need for such a digraceful ad. Shame on you, Mr Vallone. If there is any justice, your campaign will end Tuesday.

Anonymous said...

Paul Vallone has crossed a serious line, a line that separates a greedy politician from a mentally disturbed person. I actually feel sorry for his family.

Anonymous said...

Vallone will make East Queens the next Astoria.

Anonymous said...

Vallone - seriously??? Come on.

Anonymous said...

wow is this the same guy who talks about being a husband, father and soccer coach. using a tragic incicdent for his campaign really?? Vallone just sank to the lowest possible level. i wonder what the people that tout his "we support vallone" signs would think of him now. in fact i refuse to patronize any business that has a vallone sign! can anyone spell
D-I-S_G_U_S_T_I_N_G!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

FYI, there is a tumblr site devoted to keeping track of the sleazy REBNY ads.

I am sure the parents in Newtown who lost their children would not tolerate this at all. He has now lost all credibility and I defintely will not vote his brother in for Borough President, as he has not condoned this either. This is lower than low. Does anyone know how we can get this to the media in Newtown to let the parents know wht is being done by this classless politician. They need to know that their childrens deaths are being used in a political campaign. And has anyone alerted our local media outlets? What do you all suggest is the best route to go with this, as I think the more of us that alert the media to this blog post , the better. There is strength in numbers. I left message with Daily News, but got cut off as it was recording. Don't know how far it will get.

Anonymous said...

Speaking as a strong gun control advocate, I think this brochure is cynical, amoral and astoundingly tasteless and obscene. No way this got out without Vallone's k.owledge and approval, and every voter should remrmber that on Tuesday.

Joe Moretti said...

I have a feeling all of these negative flyers from "Jobs for New York" are going to come back to bite them and the candidates they back on the ass. This one has really gone overboard.

Anonymous said...

has anyone alerted our local media outlets?

I'm not just tooting Crappy's horn, but I'm pretty sure that many local reporters regularly read Queens Crap. It would not surprise me if it's covered in the papers on Monday. (Hopefully not on Saturday, since those stories tend to be ignored.) Since Errol Louis hosted the debate on New York 1, hopefully he will hear about this, too.

Queens anti-gun campaign flyer evokes Newtown massacre while endorsing City Council candidate Paul Vallone

Anonymous said...

I don't live in the district, but I'm really hoping the voters of the 19CD show up on Tuesday and make sure anybody but Paul Vallone wins the Democratic primary. We have enough shameless people in government. It's time to restore some semblance of dignity.

Anonymous said...

Your disavowal is TL squared, Paul.

Anonymous said...

What frightens me is that so many great local folks are not part of this conversation and will just vote based on name recognition. Everyone MUST TALK TO ALL OF YOUR NEIGHBORS BROADCASTING WHAT AN SOB/ PHONY/LIER/FAKE Paul Vallone is. spread the word loud and clear to all of your neighbors that Paul Vallone would be the worst thing that happened to our neighborhood. Stop him at all costs! please!

Anonymous said...

Everyone knows that flyers rely on name recognition and mass appeal. If they blanket an area they can almost predict the number of registered voters that they will get. Just mass marketing based on shock ads. The key for citizens is to break the back of the corrupt two party system and deny access to the special interests. Vote independently, write in, disconnect the parties from their money.

Anonymous said...

I emailed the Times Ledger about this. The Daily News has already picked it up. What's strange is that I live in CD 19 and have never received any of the negative flyers only the wife and kid flyers. They are choosing who gets them. Everyone needs to know about this!!!

Anonymous said...

Voters of CD19: Don't sell out your community to the people who need to use the memory of innocent dead children to get elected. This community has a lot of volunteers and civic organizations that get a lot of good done. If Valloney Balloney gets in, those organizations are screwed which means you will all be screwed. Who are you going to run to when your neighbor rips downs their house to build a giant church? Stinky? ha!, good luck. Don't let our precious property go on the chopping block. VOTE GRAZIANO! NOW MORE THAN EVER!!!!

Anonymous said...

Vallone needs to be hung by his scrotum to reduce the size of his balls!

JEEZ...is there no limit to what this lying ambulance chasing developers' lobbyist will resort to?

PLEASE BE SURE TO VOTE...and if you cant decide who to vote for... VOTE FOR ANYONE BUT VALLONE!

Anonymous said...

There's that tired old disgruntled Ass-torian again...forever attempting to suggest that northeast Queens can ever become Astoria.

We are in agreement, however...that we won't benefit by having the villainous Vallone represent us in the city council.

If you don't like living in Astoria so much, then why haven't you moved away yet?

FYI:
Our restrictive low density R1-2A zoning will not make us subject to becoming another Astoria.

YAWN!
Try playing another tune on your fiddle, fella.

I know there's a commenter here named Jerry Rotondi who is a former ad man. I wonder what his professional opinion is about this piece.

Anonymous said...

Doesn't matter what you say about Paul.

Since Queens believes that Peter is the second Guiliani (and we all know Archie and Edith are horrified by the Katz lifestyle) brother as beep will make sure that Paulie has a nice future and every opportunity to payback everything that you are saying about him.

Restrictive covenants my ass.

IF!
HEAVEN FORBID

Vallone wins

I hope and pray the other candidates find someone to support

Either amongst themselves

Or

They join forces and resources in a write in campaign for a true community person who can't be brought

Someone like Al Centola or Jerry Rotondi

Here's to hoping or I'm moving

Al and Jerry are not running, which you already know, and they both made it clear that they don't want you to write-in their names.

They are both supporting GRAZIANO. They support him because he has actually done things during the past 20 years to protect our neighborhoods from being totally ruined.

If you want to stop Vallone, vote for GRAZIANO!

Anonymous said...

If Graziano was truly for the people of CD 19 he'd drop his party affiliation and run independently. Drafting reluctant citizens for service in the community should be common. After all, Tony Avella is not running for boro prez but you all want to write him in. Make up your minds!

Queens Crapper said...

Don't have to write Avella's name in for BP. It's on the ballot.

Anonymous said...

I wish to point out to the person who made the Barry Goldwater comparison that that ad came from the LBJ campaign, not Goldwater.

Anonymous said...

If the SOB Vallone wins, the only choice is Dennis Saffran. The other Dems and all of the civic groups should rally for Saffran so Vallone is beaten by a huge margin---and we can wipe that smirk off his face! The community should unite behind Saffran who is an honest public servant, with many years serving his community and working as a government lawyer!

You are not making any sense: Graziano should drop his party affiliation? Then he wouldn't be running in the Democratic Primary and none of this would be happening.

Having worked with Graziano on many issues, including neighborhood rezonings which are usually fraught with all sorts of peril, I can tell you for a fact that he is one of the most non-partisan people I've ever met. He doesn't care if people are Democrats, Republicans, Working Families, Conservatives, Martians - as long as they want to protect their neighborhoods, he has worked with them.

Paul Graziano will make a fantastic Councilman it doesn't matter what party he's with. He has always done right by the community regardless of party affiliation. Vote Graziano!!

Until the party affiliations are upset by the people you will still and always have the same corruption issues you are dealing with now.

Paul Graziano will make a fantastic Councilman it doesn't matter what party he's with. He has always done right by the community regardless of party affiliation.

When he ran against John Liu eight years ago (before the boundaries were re-drawn), Graziano ran on the Green Party line. I don't think party affiliations are that important to him - only the results.

Anonymous said...

If party affiliations were not important he wouldn't be running as a Democrat. Try to sort that out!

Paul Vallone said...

Vote for me.

Please don't vote for stinky.
He scares me.

How come I keep seeing so many vallone lawn signs appearing on street curbs?

Anonymous said...

I got a Jobs for New York flyer in my mail pushing for Rory Lancman. So much for being a civic warrior.

Anonymous said...

If you understood how running for office works in New York State, and how difficult it is to run without a party affiliation, you wouldn't say that. Running for office without ballot access, which is what you have to do if you run the way that you're describing, is next to impossible due to the stranglehold of the Democrats and Republicans at the NY State Board of Elections.

Did you know that Al Centola is a Republican? Did you know that Jerry Rotondi is a Democrat? If they were to run, do you think they wouldn't run on the party that they are a member of??

The point is that GRAZIANO is a registered Democrat, so he's running in the Democratic Primary. He is not connected with the Dem machine, unlike all of the other candidates (except Chrissy, who was affiliated with Dan Halloran).

If you want to be represented by someone independent with a track record of getting things done, then vote for Graziano. It's that simple.

If either Vallone gets in you are screwed.

Anonymous said...

If Paul Vallone wins the primary after his despicable slanderous attack on his Democratic opponents and his disgusting attempt to capitalize on the Newton tragedy stating he will stop such a tragedy here (What gall!)----all Dems should rally behind Saffran, who is an honest, dedicated public servant!! ANYONE BUT VALLONE!!!!

Anonymous said...

Not only do the Democratic and Republican parties have a stranglehold on the Board of Elections, they have a stranglehold on the candidates that get elected under their banner. Why do you think Avella bowed out in the last minute. Mr. Maverick! Write in your votes or repeat history. Break the party system and never vote for an incumbent.

Anonymous said...

By the way mr. Whitestone, it really doesn't matter what party Jerry or Al are registered with, for instance; Rudy was once a democrat and ran for mayor as a republican and won, Peter Koo ran and won council as a republican and is now a democrat, Elio Forcina ran for council and lost as a democrat and is now a republican, and on and on. Politics makes strange bedfellows. Remember? You have no idea what Jerry or Al might do. Try thinking outside the box once in a while expert.

The ad agency that I worked for would NEVER put out this kind of trash, except for collection at the curb.

NEGATIVE ADS DON'T WORK!
They often ricochet and hit the one who runs them.

I agree, this appears to be a Parkside special.

Sludgery, dirty tricks and over the top offensive ads are their hallmark--signed or unsigned.

Taking advantage of tragedy marks this as an all time low.

Jerry Rotondi said...

Oh--and thanks--NO SIR !!!
I'm not interested in running for ANY office--as either a Democrat or Republican--EVER!

I was offered support to run (eventually) for the city council back in 1987. As I've said before, I declined. Nothing has occurred to change my mind since then."County" would have certainly pushed me for district leader. That would be step #1 on the political ladder.

LOL!
A Dem Assemblyman even asked me if I would think of serving on CB 7. Can you imagine that--me on the community bored? I'd be bounced after one year.

Thanks be--that I've got enough brains to know to stick to what I'm good at--and politics isn't what I'm good at.

As "Dirty Harry" would say, "A man has got to know his limitations".

I know mine, so you'll have to be content with my Queens Crap postings and my infamous political cartoons.

You all be sure to vote now. Never give up that right!

I'm voting GRAZIANO.
If you disagree with my choice, then I have to recommend ANYONE but Vallone.
He's too full of Valloney baloney!

Paul Vallone the new Mr. Clean!

A little retro jingle for ya.
"Mr. Clean gets rid of dirt and grime and grease in just a minute. Mr. Clean can clean your whole house and everything that's in it".
Isn't YouTube great?

The problem is that this new Mr. Clean, chrome dome and all, is crapping all over the place and turning this election into a veritable shit house.

Then he's gonna clean it up? Kiss my royal arse!
Paul Vallone refuses to speak out against his PAC's puke pieces.

The point that I was trying to make was that you keep saying over and over that a candidate should run without a party affiliation.

It doesn't matter what party someone belongs to, as long as they have automatic ballot status - Democrats, Republicans, Working Families Party, Conservative, Independence and Green parties all have those lines because they got more than 50,000 votes in the Governor's race - which is the only thing that defines automatic ballot status.

If you don't belong to one of those parties, it is extremely difficult to get on the ballot. So, what I was saying was that I don't care what party you are, as long as the party has ballot status.

By all means, if someone wants to try to run as an unaffiliated candidate, good luck to you.

People prefer buying name brands...not generic...unless they can't afford the premium stuff.

i.e.
Try running on Green Party ticket and see how far it will take you.
