CUNY mural saved by...Joe Lhota?

FYI... The mosaic mural at City Tech has been saved! The college hired a firm to take the mural down in sections and crate it. Actually Joe Lhota, who is a CUNY trustee, and others, spoke on behalf of saving it at one of the board meetings.

Since 1% of the new building cost must be set aside for art, they're hoping it will be re-installed somewhere in the new building. They're still working on the details. But even if that doesn't work out, at least it wasn't destroyed.

Lhota's got my vote, some good news for change. Finally a win for the good guys.

We'll see in the end how this really comes out! In the meantime none of the vaunted art museums in NYC see a role for themselves in this real piece of NY art?

Isn't it amazing how all of these "wonderful" things happen right before an election? Not suprising at all. Nice that it got saved. Most of these professional pols are too entrenched in the dog poop to be other than self-serving.

If its in Queens no one important cares and if they did anything unscripted, their funding would be cut off.

Who says it's saved?

Llohta has been a CUNY trustee for years. If there wasn't an election, and if he wasn't running, nobody would be paying attention to what happens at CUNY Board of Trustee meetings - unless they voted to raise tuition.

Hey folks, Joe Lhota didn't send this to me nor is he using it to promote homself. I found out the info from someone else involved. Not everything is political.

Not everything is political! Only in New York. Pardon us for being skeptics crappy, but most of us have been there before. Show me the money!

Lhota will save mural but not Kittens?
When he said he would not inconvienance strap hangers to save Kitten on tracks it showed not only what kind of heart he has but how stupid he is for saying it. Also, think about the danger to the straphangers of not shutting the line down. People were leaning over the edge of the platform to see the kittens and could have fallen onto the tracks. People could have fallen while trying to alert an incomming motor man. Some people may have went onto the tracks to catch the kittens and been killed or injured. Joe Lhota should not be Mayor, MTA cheif or even dog catcher.

With all due respect, and as someone who owns cats, Mr. Lhota never said the train should run them over. He said the trains should not be shut down while workers chase after kittens. There are hundreds of cats in the subway and they are savvy enough to survive without getting electrocuted or run over. There is a feral colony at the Metro Ave station of the M line that the workers feed that are on the tracks all the time.

You folks need to stop basing your votes on issues manufactured by the media, which is exactly what the kitten story was.

Great comment Crappy. The media continues to do this, they really think the electorate is dumb. Oh wait they are, Paul Vallone and Melinda Katz won their primaries.
