From Project Woodhaven:
There has been another attack on a female jogger, again in the Forest Hills section of Forest Park. This attack, similar to an attack in the same area in March, took place near the secluded horse trails which joggers frequently use. Is it the same perpetrator? Here are the 2 sketches of the suspect -- the April attack suspect is at left (wearing a stocking cap) and the suspect from last week is at the right:
Unresolved Dangerous Conditions
There are lights out all over the area -- and the amount of time it is taking to resolve is completely unacceptable.
1) Forest Park Drive - From Park Lane South to Myrtle, through Forest Park, across Woodhaven Boulevard. Reported to 311 and DOT inspected and, unbelievably, they closed the 311 after inspecting it.
2) Myrtle Avenue, from Woodhaven Boulevard to Park Lane South - a long dark stretch. We parked along there the other morning -- when we got back from the track, this had happened:
And yet, even though the lights have been out for a while (reported 8/16) they have not yet been repaired. The map below shows where we know there to be lighting issues in and around Forest Park.
These issues have been reported to 311. But in light of the recent attacks, DOT and Con Edison needs to escalate these problems and fix them immediately. As in, today.
There is no excuse for the city to put people who use the park in jeopardy.
And people wonder why the residents of Woodhaven aren't enthusiastic about the QueensWay? Check out how the city currently takes care of park security -- and this isn't a new problem and ask yourself if you want more of that brought directly into your neighborhood.
I'm sure Liz Crowley will get right on this. Just about every article about the rape mentions that she regularly jogs in Forest Park. I guess she's been jogging with a blindfold on.

I hope the cops don't racially profile anyone who fits that description. And I really hope they don't Stop and Frisk anyone.
Actually something else we can chalk up to Mr Public Safety Peter Vallone.
You should hear the bitching about Astoria Park that he ignores just a few blocks from his house.
...usual suspects, and all that...
Thank you for tying this in to the issue of "QueensWay," a ridiulously terrible idea. Would the proposed Queensway, situated right smack in people's backyards, have any policing at all? Lighting? Fencing? If fencing, would it be at the top of the steeply-angled slope or at the property lines down below? So many questions and so few answers. It's all a boondoggle, IMHO. Someone is making money off it.
Not knowing exactly where these attacks took place, is it possible they are where the three precincts lines converge so that there is a lack of coordination they assailant is counting upon? The Richmond Hill 102 is responsible for 95% of the park, but the Glendale and Forest Hills precincts look like they are each responsible for small portions of the park and adjacent areas to the north...

One of three scenarios have to unfold for the cops to catch this guy;
1. The city taking notice of the problem and starting a task force to beef up police presence in the park, utilizing military like maneuvers to scour the park for this guy. Or....
2. Someone seeing something, calling the police and having them catching the guy. Or....
3. The police just happening to be in the right place at the right time.
Any of those scenarios seem likely to anyone here. Or does one scenario seem more likely than another?
Whats the description aside some graphite pencil "sketch" ?
Eye color, skin color ?
Well this is what happens when you let Queens become the "wild, wild west". No enforcement of any type of laws, litter, zoning, etc. Letting people do whatever the hell they want. Electing do nothing leaders. It eventually catches up with you.
I drive through that area every morning. Yesterday and today I saw at least 3 police cars parked at various entrances to the park, with officers out of their cars standing on the roads. Is this a direct result of the attack? Are they investigating, or just showing their presence? How long would that last?

I would tell ya but the city council would sue me for racially profiling.
I see them on their phones playing candycrush. And plus how can they catch someone when the beefed up police presence was increased from 930 am to 6 pm.
