Melinda managed to list a bunch of topics that the borough president has no control over as well as a bunch of non-solutions on her latest mailer. A moratorium on hospital closings? Good luck with that.

Disagree, crappy. Besides the hospitals, even though she cannot pass laws, the money she can throw around and the hearing approvals can affect the borough's layout and functioning significantly. Like Marty Markowitz torpedoing downtown Brooklyn with the Barclay center.
Whether the BP is a useful role for the public good is a completely different question altogether...
The money she can throw around? WTF does that mean? The borough president cannot allocate any money toward any of the things on the mailer.
Furthermore, Atlantic Yards never went through the city ULURP process because it was a state project. And in the city ULURP process, the BPs vote is advisory.
This is a woman desperate for some visibility, who really wants to be Queens DA and hopes to squat in the BPs office until Brown retires. Same with Vallone.
"The Queens Borough President’s Office provides capital and expense grants for the development and improvement of PUBLIC AND/OR PRIVATE spaces in the Borough of Queens as well as programmatic support to eligible not-for-profits in Queens."
Do you know something we don't?
In case you forgot, Markowitz appointed Dolly Williams to the City Planning Commission who was fined by the COIB for voting on Atlantic Yards.
Now, we are stuck with some real nasty choices for borough president.
You owe your supporters and your contributors, like myself, more than the cursory explanation you've offered for bowing out of the race. I'm sure you had good reasons.
However, the way I'm looking at it right now--I could have donated the money I'd given your campaign-- to a worthy cause like the Poppenhusen Institute.
Yes I'm well aware of the BP portion of the capital money. But once again, what on the list presented on her flier here is she going to be able to throw money at? Building a hospital?

Neevr ehard that Katz want the DA spot, just Vallone. And between the two, I'd take Vallone. Did Kat's ever practice criminal law?
I see no mention on her list of protection of men for health care access. One less reason for men to give her their vote. No choice for them but peter Vallone. Vote Vallone.

You are not in Astoria anymore. You have to make some sense now when you say things.

Phony liar thief... BPs do nothing but placate developers and ruin Neighborhoods, and she knows it.
Is she twenty in that photo?
Hospital closings was all Mario Cuomo's doing. We've had socialized medicine in New York State in the 1980s, before Hillarycare or Obamacare..
Isn't she concerned about men, also?

Um, the BP portion of the capital budget money?

The city bent over and let the NYCEDC represent all its agencies:

(Para 12)
It's well known that Markowitz supported the project. instead of much needed affordable housing.
Screw up appointments and misplaced priorities can be bad, even if the state does try to ram it through.
Melinda Katz would be a horror for Queens. She has a love affair with Real Estate Developers. Don't vote for Katz!
Senator Avella--

Please convince me that I'm wrong.
Jerry Rotondi,
a registered Democrat.
With the old Board of Estimate, Donald Manes ruled.
After the city charter change the BP's office lost its real power.
Think of borough hall as a rest stop along the highway, where pols pause to use the facilities as they move up in their careers.

Katz mentioned by 2 papers as potential successor to Brown: City and State and Queens Trib
She's a handsome woman...
Does anyone really believe that we need a president of the united boro of Queens. How stupid.

Dump the Vallones! God save Queens!
Makes sense to me, why would any male voter vote for Katz who is openly bigoted against them.
Why does she not like men? We have issues too.
Puhleeze, Jerry!
Avella took a dive. He threw the fight. What kind of cushy job was he promised for betraying us?
Didn't Tony promise to fight a vigorous grass roots campaign?
Well it looks like the grass was replaced by plastic turf.
Talk about weird logic...why should anyone vote for Avella because he's still on the ballot?
He should be stricken from it!
I'm voting Republican after this ludicrous primary is over.
The ultimate flp-flopper..........
