From the NY Post:
Two City Council members have been in public service for so long, they’re collecting government pay from three sources — salary, pension and Social Security, according to newly released financial-disclosure forms.
Oliver Koppell (D-Bronx) — one of the wealthiest members of the City Council — and Karen Koslowitz (D-Queens) each collected income on top of their $122,500 council salaries.
Koppell took in as much as $60,000 in pension from his longtime gig as a state assemblyman, and between $5,000 and $44,000 in Social Security.
Koslowitz took in between $60,000 and $100,000 in pension payouts last year for working a previous stint on the council and as Queens Deputy Borough President until she rejoined the council in 2010.
Koslowitz also earned between $5,000 and $44,000 in Social Security last year and has between $10,000 and $88,000 in credit card debt.

How could someone so dumb and clueless command a 6-figure salary on top of two hefty pensions???!
Forest Hills is being screwed big time! It's time for a new council representative...some with a brain who can think on their own.

THEIR DUMB AND CLUELESS IS EXCEEDED ONLY BY THE DUMB AND CLUELESS ELECTORATE THAT SENDS 'EM BACK TO OFFICE TIME AND TIME AGAIN.
Look at the other incompetent fool standing behind her.
What a pair!
Some of them, e.g. Brooklyn's Recchia, have also lucrative law firm business. On the other hand, Peter Koo donates his Council salary to charity.
Not sure why everyone above me is upset. There's nothing illegal here. If you're unhappy with this policy, elect someone who will legislate to change it.
If possible, judge Karen on her constituent services, legislation and ethics rather than her age, pay, appearance, or a issue like the Civic Virtue statue.
Karen never took bribes, never molested anyone, never had any instances of fraud. Perhaps she deserves something for having a relatively clean record in an industry filled with bad apples.
How old are these old bags? Someone should let them know it's time to retire. Haven't they fleeced the taxpayers enough?
Anon #5, you set the bar pretty low for elected representatives. Millions of people in this city are honest, and would do Karen's job for a fraction of what she earns. Ethics? How about asking why she did nothing about the NYCEDC after the oversight hearing? Was she told not to by her "superiors?"
I believe she only has a HS diploma

Well if you set the bar THAT low yes we can say something positive
... she has never been arrested.
And if that about sums up why someone should like - then that goes a long way explaining why Queens is in this sorry mess.
What constituent services - garbage pickup from the Doe Fund on Continental Ave.? Yeah, GREAT use of our tax dollars while we already pay for the DoS to not do its job. Maybe if she weren't so lazy, she'd make some noise, and actually, you know, be our representative about that?
We never see her in the media...never hear her speaking. And when was the last time she came up with any legislation on her own that benefited the city?
She's too old and dumb to perform her Council functions and needs to step aside and let someone with energy and intelligence do the job to represent Forest Hills effectively.
By the way, what does her staff, especially her communications person do all day long??
One of her hacks'll probably post that she passed a better law for the small business rights.
More grandstanding. The only change she introduced to the admin code says,
"all relevant agencies to facilitate distribution of a physical copy of the bill of rights to business owners or managers [prior to, during, or after]at the time of an inspection, except that if the inspection is an undercover inspection or if the business owner or manager is not present at the time of the inspection, then a copy of the bill of rights shall be provided as soon as practicable."
So basically, the goons at the DCA, DoH, DoB can still fine you by surprise and give you the bill of rights AFTERWARD, because it was either not undercover, or not "practicable" to do it any other way.
You think Bloomberg would let that incompetent boob legitimately derail his fine and levy gravy train? You're kidding yourself. Koslowitz is a Bloomberg/Quinn stooge.
