I been saying this for YEARS !!
This park is filled with mentally violent crazy homeless. I no longer ride my bike there because I would have to carry a weapon and risk "pat and frisk"
I asked some cops I saw ONCE whats the deal with all these crazy violent nuts in bushes and on benches.

Check out the wooded are of Kissena Park - there are lots of homeless people living there as well. It's extremely creepy to come upon one while you're walking your dog.

I have sympathy for anyone without a home but it's still pretty creepy.

Any info where the crimes are more prevalent, in the north or south side of the park? the north of the LIE side is where the USTA has the stadiums and is relatively well-kept, the south side is often flooded and in a sorry condition.

I am most surprised at the statistic of Central Park. With the hundreds of millions of dollars poured into it, to the detriment of every other park, you would think it would be a bit safer!

Bryant Park was dangerous until vendors had an interest in keeping the crooks out. Lindsey's bus shelters failed until Koch had advertisers take interest in their upkeep. Will utopians like Avella and Graziano ever learn?

The 2 leg animals in FM Park are the really bad ones, I assume the ones jail dumps on the street
3 types: Piss pants drunks, Paranoid schizo's and dozens of illegals living in make shift tents and "holes" along the LIRR tracks they cover and camouflage up with brush.
For some reason the cops are ordered to LAY OFF and look the other way and cant touch the mentally cases because have to many rights and the city has no place else to shelter them. !!

Anon No. 5:

Great idea. Let's charge admission to the parks! That'll keep the bad guys out.

FMC park has been a dangerous place after dark since I left for College in 72. Worst of all, the law abiding peeps have been disarmed by the NYC politicians, and the perps know it.

TRUE I been asked and "patted" if I had any weapons when I complained to 2 cops. You cant even have pepper spray, a stick or a blade.
---I'm lucky the didn't find anything. I no longer bike there the cave zombies in the tall weeds and bushes size you up to gang jump you.
You must resort to the whatever sticks and rocks you can find on the ground. Meanwhile the bastards have switchblades, machete's and spring knives hidden.
Its like back in stone ages over there--no law & order unless the US Open is on.

What about the ones who steal the boats from flushing meadow then ride them under the overpass into willow lake where they go and build makeshift shacks. Im sure their not happy the trail is back open.

Cops from the 110 Rpecinct aren't allowed into FMP unless they are called for a specific job. The department considers the park a "cooping prone location" which means that they don't want the cops to go hiding in some dark spot to goof off. So unless the US Open is in town, or unless you call 911, there most likely won't be a random sector cal strolling by when you are being attacked.

No shit Sherlock.
Anyone could tell you that.

It's Latinoland.
Rapes and robberies are big in Mexico, Colombia, El Salvador, etc. They're just bringing a touch of the old homeland to FMCP.
