What Anthony's been up to

From the NY Times:

Anthony D. Weiner has demystified the details of the 906-page Affordable Care Act for an electronic medical records company.

He has counseled a biofuel firm about expansion into the emerging markets of Latin America and Africa.

And he has plunged into the world of start-ups with his own green energy business.

Over the past two years, it appeared as if Mr. Weiner, once the irrepressible fireball of New York City politics, had spent his days as a stay-at-home dad, licking his wounds and mourning his ambitions after the salacious images and messages that he sent to women prompted his resignation from Congress.

But it turns out that from the moment he left public view, the man who had relied on a government paycheck his entire adult life was consumed by a corporate career whose profits and progress came to him, by his own account, with remarkable ease.

Mr. Weiner, a Democrat who once loudly championed a government-run health care option, a totem of big-government liberalism, now employs the language of a grizzled Wall Streeter, dropping references to “energy plays” and “monthly retainers.”

During an interview, he proudly declared that “I am a good capitalist.”

As he weighs whether to leap into the race for mayor this year, Mr. Weiner’s lucrative stint in business could serve as a compelling campaign credential, blunting efforts to portray him as a career politician, even as it raises uncomfortable questions about the speed with which he cashed in on his government connections.

I'll take Weiner, even with his past human foibles,
over anyone else who's running for mayor.

Before he screwed up--his "politics" were (generally) always good.

We've elected far worse (if it comes to that) in the past.
Maybe it's time for us to forgive and forget.

I don't know. If he runs--I'll decide then.
I WON'T VOTE FOR QUINN. That's for sure!

"Green energy" = crony "capitalism". Ant-knewe as corrupt as ever, getting his payback for being a Congresstool.

One could dismiss outsider candidates in a cynical fashion, thinking that a vote is wasted if not on a frontrunner. But a protest vote when the high profile candidates are dismal is a vote of conscience, which I think is meritorious in and of itself. That's just my opinion.
