At a cemetery. What more appropriate venue to discuss where the borough is headed and the tweeders that want to take it there?

For the most part these 'debates' are a joke - they are held by political clubs or groups like QCC and softball questions are asked.
Answers include how much the candidates have worked with each other and standard stump speeches that only have the most tangential relation to the question asked.
They're a bunch of puffed up civic dead heads, meeting in a cemetery. How appropriately ironic.
QCC is basically a northeast centric group anyway. That's where they focus the "power" they think they have.
A Douglaston attorney, Sean Walsh, was instrumental in setting up QCC's predecessor, the United Civic Congress.
Do they care a fig what happens in middle or western Queens?
Damn little! It's mainly lip service.
This herd of geldings pretend to have the spunk of stallions. The reality is that they've lost their balls and become the rodeo clowns of the political arena.

Looks like Jose Peralta will potentially be paid off to support a bill that would benefit one big wine business at the expense of small local resellers and consumers.
