At least it's not gunshots...

From CBS New York:

Construction crews are working around the clock to get the Rockaway boardwalk reconstructed in time for the start of summer.

But some neighbors have complained that the noise is out of hand.

Cement pilings are being pounded into the sand. Arverne by the Sea homeowner Vincent Castellano said the constant thumping has kept him up at night.

“The couch shakes, the bed shakes,” Castellano told WCBS 880′s Monica Miller. “You leave the TV on to drown out the noise. The lights shine into the apartment.”

Deputy Commissioner Liam Kavanaugh with the city’s Department of Parks and Recreation said they’re trying to get life back on track at the beach by Memorial Day.

Nothing a gun toting thug fears more than a buldozer coming at him. So watch the thugs get dozers banned, too.

Yes, be afraid.....very afraid
So, the boardwalk can't open a few weeks late in order to keep the sanity of the neighbors. Studies, prove that sleep deprivation is responsible for many accidents and deaths caused by those accidents.

Oh please. Just suck it up and use earplugs. If the beach isn't restored, come summer no one is going to want to show up in the neighborhood to spend their dollars at your local businesses. Then where would you be? Get over it and yourselves.

it's not a real boardwalk. they are only portions of the boardwalk surrounding the money making concessions. money making for the city and no concern for what Rockaway wants.

And if the city wasn't doing this work, Castellano would be saying what?
