Fire dept's equipment destroyed by storm

From NY1:

With their equipment still damp from the flood waters, the head of the West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department said he doesn't know when they will be able to replace the fire trucks and ambulances they lost in the flood. Three fire engines and two ambulances were destroyed.

The volunteers say the water swept through the firehouse in a matter of minutes. It happened as a crew was helping residents.

The West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department has been around for more than a century and it's been a lifeline for this tiny beach community.

This was the place where many went for food and clothes after the power went out, but now that the lights are back on, they are working on getting new equipment.

A backup ambulance and the rig they received from the Hooversville Volunteer Fire Department this week is just about all they have.
