Bloomberg has gas to get to subway
From the NY Post:
Mayor Bloomberg kept his word about taking mass transit to work today as thousands across the area returned and work and school for the first time since Sandy devastated the New York area.
He was spotted riding the 5 train to City Hall [yesterday] morning.
Bloomberg left his East 79th Street town house just before 7 a.m. and was driven in a black Chevy Suburban to the express 5 train stop at 59th St.
He walked briskly through the station and arrived at the train just as it was entering the station and boarded with a half dozen security guards and City Hall photographer Spencer Tucker.
He read the front page of the Financial Times and was silent during the commute with his head down.
In a black jacket and black suit he blended in with commuters on the loosely-packed train.
When a Post reporter tried to ask the mayor how his commute was going a security guard asked her to step back.
He arrived at City Hall at 7:20 a.m.
The Village Voice saw the ridiculousness in the display.

The Voice, now a hipster pennysaver, overlooks the fact that Bloomberg hs been doing this forever. I remember a piece years ago, which had Hizzoner taking the same trip: SUv escort to 59th Street. Unless someone can sow him doing differently, I'm going with Mayor Mike's fantasy being just that.
Such a lie -- u can't see his huge bodyguards NYPD Det from the Intelligence Division that refuse to obey NYPD protocol and legally they are required to. I shouted down Bloomberg Aug 20 at a press conference on ECTP 911 T
Trying to look like a man of the people--by riding the subway--after his faux pas with the NYC Marathon is beyond ridiculous!
Let him try to take public transportation to Staten Island. He'd need a swat team to protect him from its residents' outrage.
P.S.
Bloomberg just staged a photo op--
pure and simple.
Shouting down Bloomberg is nice.
Choosing our next mayor more intelligently is better.
Turtle-face phony billionaire idiot pretending to be a human being. How sad... on second thought it's quite hilarious if you step back and just soak it in.
In the picture the Mayor is leaning on the "Do Not Lean on Door" sign.
Did the Mayor get out of the way on his own when people wanted to leave or did people have to ask him to please get out of the way or did people have to use a different exit to avoid being harassed by his huge security presence?
Thanks City Council.
umm... Why did you overturn Term Limits????
Because you thought we were too stupid to decide what is best for us.... and (as your correctly thought) we would be so spineless as to go along with you doubting our own good judgment?
He is just like the working man! Taking his black-car and security team to get him to the subway. just like all of us!!!
BTW, is he going to get a fine for leaning up against the door???
I guess he couldn't gas up his limo because of the long lines and figured he's make an appearance on the trains like the common folk. What a guy!
I've got gas too!
Kiss my ass Mike, while I let go with one!
Yes, he takes the subway all the time, but the Average Joe doesn't have a limo to take them to a subway stop 20 blocks away. He lives his whole life as a photo-op. His twisted "convictions" are mere hypocrisy.
although i believe doomsberg to be a irrational thinker on certain events that happened during his terms in office , new yorkers could choose better qualified and less liberal primary candidates, if we want a CHECKS AND BALANCES GOVERNMENT.
Anon No. 13: The only checks that Bloomberg provides were to the Republican County Leaders for putting him on the ballot for a third term.
Anon. No. 13:
Providing checks and balances means that the party that provides the checks and balances to make an effort to win elections.
He should have walked to the subway station too.
Yelling down the mayor on the largest corruptions ever in NYC gov CityTime almost a billion dollars and ECTP 911 over 2 billion dollars both faulty systems both examples of mega theft stealing and oh yeah let's pick a mayor in some intelligently way? No wonder no real name. What candidates? Name a candidate! Hilarious. Bloomberg photo a gas. He is the only one that bothers to fake an occasional subway ride. Quinn could walk to work or take the subway but than she can't feel like emperor and she wants to be.
Which candidate has more brains than ambition?
Ms. Troy, I am also an artist.
My art was practiced in a world class ad agency...
one that very often donated its services, pro bono, for many social justice causes. I did my share.
Yes, I do have a real name (which is well known) but I'm not using it. Some might interpret that as using it to further my art career. Therefore, I prefer to remain anonymous.
The 1960's are over. Demonstrations, hootnanneys, and shout downs produce limited results on their own.
BTW...I have also personally yelled down Bloomberg on the steps of city hall as he passed within 5 feet of me.
That was followed up afterwards
with hours, days and weeks of painstaking labor .
Hopefully, I reached many voters...but not enough considering Mike is still our "emperor".
Demonstrations are a very good eye opening tool...to attract attention....like a headline in a newspaper. What's the long term plan? Let's see the body copy. That's the real hard part.
Don't take things so personally, Ms. Troy.
Thanks for what you've been doing.
Fighting for the people isn't for the thin skinned,
as you well know.
