From DNA Info:The beleaguered former administrator of Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Estelle Cooper, has been charged with swiping more than $50,000 in funds from Unisphere—the nonprofit conservancy group that funds activities at the park, authorities said.
Cooper, 82, of Whitestone, was charged with two counts of grand larceny and could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted, authorities said.
According to the District Attorney's office, the alleged swindle first came to light last November when an internal audit at Unisphere revealed missing funds.
It's not clear how Cooper obtained access to the funds, but she systematically pilfered more than $50,000 dollars during a five-year period starting in 2007, authorities said.

Her family will claim that she was mentally disabled and did not know what she was doing. She started showing signs of some kind of dementia a number of years ago. How she was allowed to stay in that cushy Parks Dept position for so long is very questionable. ($120k salary) She obviously was not in this alone and that is why the entire Queens Parks Dept needs a FULL investigation by authorities.
Time to clean up our Parks!

$50,000. over five years is chump change compared to the amounts that previous nyc/nys politicians, presently in prison , have stolen.

Everyone should be looked out. Many think its a lot more than fifty thousand missing. Friends of mine knew her through their jobs 15 years ago and cooper was disgusting,not only because of the way she looked,but because she was so mean and treated people like they were crap,and below her. She thought she was a queen..she did nothing ever. She deserves to be punished at any age!!!!!

Look into her daughter. Word is that she has a gambling problem. She also ran a camp that didn't pay its counselors or vendors. Figure it out.
